Ive seen quite a few for sale recently on the facebook groups for clio sports, got to be fast though as people are queing for them. If your budget is tight, avoid rebuilding the 172 lump as that will soon empty your wallet.
I wouldnt even bother rebuilding the 172 lump before fitting if it runs ok. Do the timing belt & dephaser, and send it. Loads of cheap ph2 172’s with tatty bodywork for sale, see them all the time.
I was belting my 13mm ratchet spanner with a hammer the other day to shock a bolt off, took the abuse no bother, so would say they are pretty decent. Its about worn out as had it ten years or so, i think its due a claim on the warranty:LOL:
The only thing i have broken is the early design 24”...
A bit of graft done this week
One of my mates bought a scrap Kangoo, the fuel system was shot so would only start with easi start, and bodywork rough as feck so was only going to the weigh in yard. Engine/turbo were decent as only done 80k, so stripped loads of bits off before it went, turbo...
Its in the uch settings, need to reprogram the clocks, follow the workshop manual as you need to take the battery off at one point so the config saves.
I built the above gtt, Its not possible to move the rad over due to the boost pipework, and wider radiator would need to be custom which would be expensive, as nothing available off the shelf anymore. Air filter is in the best position behind the headlamp.
Sportlines are good for day to day driving, not too crashy and handling is decent enough for a b road blast/occasional track. Noticed the back end is quite firm compared to the wanky apex i had fitted before.
I had Mark Fish eibach trophy springs fitted to cup shocks. No idea what poundage they...
Its usually some prick who moves near the circuit and complains about it being too noisy, knowing fine well its going to have a bit of noise through the day, which puts restrictions on db level. My local circuit Croft had a carry on a while back.
Never understood the mega strict driveby at...
The halfords tools are great. After having all my good gear robbed from my old lockup a few years ago, its all ive used with no issues, solid and reliable.
M1177 are good pads, used them in my Kangoo on track. I found them to be a bit wooden from cold, but once up to temp they are awesome. Found it quite easy to lock the wheels up with no abs when braking hard, and no fade whatsoever on track.
Trw stock pads are quite decent with good bite, They outperformed the shitty PBS i replaced them with.
Try deglazing your current set, see if they come back to life
Not had an issue with camshaft nut coming loose, 30k since doing the belt. I don't think it will cause issues unless its been removed to change cam seal, if removed new nut and torque to spec
Crank bolt never come loose after torquing up on mine, used a new bolt and a decent torque wrench to do it up. Too tight and risk snapping, or stretching f**k out of the bolt
Mine does that power down thing occasionally, absolute pain in the arse.
They are great when they work, however Prob best off with a good normal torque wrench and angle gauge for max reliability
If you sniff round, the gates kit and water pump can be found for around £50 new on ebay, or genuine renault belt and tensioners are around £50 on ebay, and water pump on top. Avoid the dayco as they arent the best apparently, also there are two crank pulley bolt sizes.
Just cancelled my virgin media before the 12 month period is up & prices go astronomical. Mrs is opening a new account in her name starting the day it expires for another year of half decent prices. Worth doing, if you can endure the pain of being on the phone for ages to cancel.
Looks fine, i usually jack up on the chassis rail the same, and fit the axle stand next to the jack on the chassis rail, but subframe mount is solid so will be ok.
Motorsport shifter, embrace the occasional rattle for the epic shift. Mine hardly ever rattles now, been on for a few thousand miles.
One thing i did notice, is a load of paint of whatever coating is on it, had flaked off from selecting reverse and caused the shifter to go a bit tight. Cleaned...
