Pretty much any of the all-in-one sub& units will take a "high-level" in, and as much as it's not as good as using a 'proper' input, it's no worse than using an iPod over an FM transmitter. Unless you're used to better, you wont notice what you dont have.
the alpine 'red' doesn't blend well, but 'amber' does. I've got an Alpine 9884, which does red with a bit of amber but, thankfully, black-out kicks in after a few seconds and I'm just using the display on the dash
Why not just get a 172?
I don't know how much an engine swap costs, but at least then you know what you've got, as do the insurers.
Surely an engine swap is the easiest way to send insurance through the roof? And what about the exhaust system, brakes, bigger brakes, suspension and so forth?
