Here's a twist on the same question...
How reliable is the OBC at working out MPG's?
I don't see quite how I'm getting 40-odd MPG' out of a 172, when the company Mundano Diesel is doing high-40's.
I know they're 2 completely different cars, but even Renault say that you shouldn't be...
Re: Insurance. Fookers!
young drivers + any car that goes at a decent lick and looks decent = big insurance bill.
I guess it's something to do with things like hormones, which will demand that said young driver will be so busy flashing off their fancy motor to either assert their dominance...
thanks henry.
engine mounts? that's nearly as bad a job as gearbox isn't it?
oil change it is, with a peek at the links. if that doesn't help matters, trade-in time
As sounds fairly typical, my 172 can be a bit tricky to get into third, mostly when cold.
Asked when trans. oil gets changed in service schedule at my local Renault, they say it never gets changed and suggested it may equally just be the linkages.
The oil theory stacks up with what is...
get components.
you've got all the holes in place already, it would be a waste not to.
If you get problems with having too much treble, turn it down on your head unit
it's only a problem with "Full-speed" Alpine units, I've found.
my last alpine (which i changed so I could keep the Clio display) switched the iPod off when the unit turned off. However, it didn't charge from flat, which the new ones do.
Thusly a dead ipod battery should sort itself out in...
Re: Insurance. Fookers!
Trade up to a Trophy, they can be had for just £7k now!
Not only would it be much better, but you wont have to have mods on your insurance and it'll probably be cheaper than what you're thinking of doing anyway.
Oh, and it'll be worth something when you finally go...
Re: Insurance. Fookers!
that's a nice little motor!
I wasn't saying you'd got a junkheap tho, sorry if that's how it sounded.
but, anyway, on this "bitz" topic.....what were you thinking of?
I'd like to declare:-
A Fullrun rear tyre (came with vehicle)
Unipart Spark plugs
Non-renault fixing bolts in front inner wheel lining
Non-Elf oil or petrol
Body-stripe vinyl graphics (came with vehicle)
Aftermarket dust in the interior
mud-effect mud graphics across entire lower vehicle
Re: Insurance. Fookers!
Sounds like you're out of options.
Don't spend money on "bitz". Save it for another motor, or to run your 182.
Actually, save it to put down on next years' premium!
Insurers will decide who they'll insure for what they chose, it's all part of "treating the...
Re: Insurance. Fookers!
Shame you've already bought it, I'd have suggested you seriously look at something else.
If you can afford the insurance then fine, cough up and be done with it. Backwhen I was 19 I was forced to pay nearly 1k for a 1.5 diesel (no turbo) Corsa, so I'm not in any way...
anyway, seriously now boys
:-)
So, if I go to RandomGarage and get a non-Renault exhaust from them, which is likely to be a cheaper option (if an issue), do I have to ring up my insurers and tell them I've had an exhaust fitted.
Surely "Pattern" parts are every bit as non-standard as some...
I was quite pleased that the fix didn't take too long. About an hour. Whenever people say "x panal needs to come off" I usually think that means several days of labour charges.
Not that it mattered this time anyway! accident repair warranties, hell yeah
got it sorted.
the garage only topped up an empty bottle, which then escaped through the jets almost immedietly.
The last people to be working on that area were a bodyshop dealing with a minor front wing ding, so thgey picked up the cost.
Now all's sorted, for the first time in ages
thanks for the quick reply.
so, what do you gauge my chances on getting them to fix them?
I dont mind paying parts, but since it was damged in their hands, not the labour
Hi all
Ive seen plenty about the light washers giving up on Clios, but here's the rub.
I took my 172 in for its much needed cambelt job, got it back home, parked it up, job done. Looking forward to using some revs again.
Then I go back out an hour later and have a mild seizure as a...
should be. The local Renault garage was particularly useless so I got an ICE installer to sort the problem.....it hadn't been plugged in.
not that the lead wasn't connected, but because it's one of those 3-bit jack-plug leads it needed to be plugged FULLY in, instead of just "normally" in...
Anyone using the Alpine remote display & stalk adaptor lead?
If so, how are you getting along.
Because my stalks choose, every journey if, and if so, how much they want to work.
?
So.
I tried the Comma Air-Con cleaner from Halfords, and after almost choking to death when I went to kill the engine I thought everything would be rosy......apart from smelling like the working-end of a chemistry set.
After a days travelling...admittedly on a VERY hot day, the smell is back...
tried one of those Comma air-con cleaners.
Fora while everything smelt "lovely" and medicinal, until it wore off and the smell came back again.
looks like time for a re-gas, will a new filter be easy for them to do too and how much would renault want for one?
