He's only 30 minutes from me so I just dropped it off and he paid me via PayPal friends and family. Quite a lot of people on the facebook groups use him though, I believe most post to him. I imagine he pays via PayPal upfront. So you'll have fees and postage off what you're getting
Oh and before i started pulling the gearbox of the car wouldn't start. I'd left it to sit on the drive since the gearbox went. Started it up on the drive about 2 weeks ago, and it was fine. Now i'm just getting a solid red light. So need to get that fixed too once it's back together.
So I changed the gearbox oil on this end of January, to ensure i didn't have any future problems with it, and a couple weeks later the gearbox became noisy. So I'm currently in the process of removing the gearbox for Northcuploop to rebuild it. I did toy with the idea of having a diff fitted...
This was maybe my issue, as was looking directly from the underside of the car and internally. I've had to disconnect the steering column to replace the rack on a CMax and the column on a mk2 punto and both times, these were disconnected from the inside of the car.
I've already popped the track...
I've tried all sorts of procedures with the key that I've been advised to do, or found by searching google. but nothings worked.
The car is currently in bits, as I'm in the process of removing the gearbox for a rebuild (part of the reason the car hadn't been used for a while). I gave up trying...
How do i undo the pinch bolt on the rack? i can't see anything and struggling to remove the rubber cover from either inside or under the car.
Do you really need to disconnect the arb and drivers side shocks if just dropping the passenger side enough to side the gearbox off the engine?
Appreciate the help mate. The above is helpful.
I do have a multimeter, bought to test a alternator a while ago. I've just never had a need to look into anything electrical before, so not much idea what to look for outside of bad earth's and broken wires.
Good luck with your dad. Hope...
Cleaned this one up this morning
Tested cluster, all lights appear.
How do I test the ECU has power, earth and Comms? Seems like this is my issue.
4 beeps on the alarm.
Nope, didn't realise there was another on that side to be honest. I'll have a look at that later. Fingers Crossed again.
Oh i replaced the battery in the key, just to be sure it wasn't an almost dead battery. no luck with that, but wasn't expecting it too either.
Exactly that, if I turn the...
Tried cleaning the earth strap mounting points and bolts. Plus took all the fuse box to pieces to disconnect the white plug and attempt to clean it up.
No difference, still the same issue as before.
Anyone got any more ideas?
No i've not touched the car at all. Was waiting for the weather to improve, before getting it sorted.
Battery was new about 6 months ago. After leaving it a couple of weeks and trying to start a number of times, it did die, but I've had it hooked up to a charger, and all seems fine.
I'll put...
So the 182 has been stood a few weeks, due to the gearbox needing a rebuild, and wasn't used much over the winter.
Planning on pulling the gearbox off this weekend, so decided to start the car to make sure everything else was ok.
Nope. Will not start. I've got a solid red light on the dash. If...
I've been looking at this a little more tonight, and whilst I'll need an engine crane for my mx5 engine at some point. It seems like it possible to pull the gearbox out the passenger side wheel well. Just need to remove the hub, and disconnect the ARB to create the room. Don't even need to lower...
I bought a magnaflow universal cat, last year and had it welded to a miltek decat pipe.
The magnaflow has a 25k mile emissions warranty. Not sure on time limits as when I check quickly checked nothing came up quickly.
My requirements changed quite a lot yesterday, the Clio was going to be a slower project, I'd intended on cleaning things up and replacing bushes etc, and treating any rust and painting etc. So I'd have had time to remove the subframe and get it powder coated, etc. But my MX5 engine started...
So I'm needing to get the gearbox rebuilt on my 182 Cup, is it best to pull the engine and box out the top of the car, or drop the subframe and remove the box only out the bottom.
I've not got an engine crane, so would need to factor in renting one for removal and again for installing, so cost...
Personally i think £2k would be on the high side of it's worth. Depending on the condition, ie dent size, rust, etc, and how much needs doing to get it back on the road. If it is genuinely tidy and just needs a small dent pulling out. I guess it could be worth a little more to the right person...
I know the Milwaukee is better, it's quite a bit more powerful. I guess for a home mechanic working on my own cars, what I'm asking is will the cheaper Dewalt do everything I'll ever need it too, or will I need to get the breaker bar out every now and then for stubborn rusted hub bolts say?
To...
No the link i posted was including 2 5Ah batteries and charge.
I guess the extra £50 is probably worth it for the warranty though over the 3 years.
So, is the Milwaukee worth £150 more than the Dewalt? haha
Thinking about upgrading my Ryobi impact wrench. Is the high torque Milwaukee worth the extra £100 or so over the Dewalt DCF899?
Also is this a good price...
No worries mate, I just thought you may of missed it.
I guess once the weather starts to warm up i'll look to pull it all apart, and ship it off to be rebuild.... well depending on cost anyway.
I know it's difficult to access pricing without opening it up. But what do you usually charge for a...
@NorthloopCup
Any thoughts mate? Volume need to be pretty loud to hear the humming noise.
The gearbox on my mr2 sounded similar, just much louder and that ended up being the main bearings, hence me thinking the box is goosed. I'm just confused why it would happen after putting in the Redline...
