To do a season in the clio cup costs a great deal of money,
that said, i'm sure there are other saloon series where a 172 would be eligible.
First point is to take a look at the various series that there are and find the technical regs for them. No point in building a clio that isn't...
Wheels on and off the sill stands. Going to get the wheels sandblasted and repainted at some point. Brake fluid in and exhaust made to fit. Also a temporary drivers seat fitted ready for going away to paint.
Terratrip rally computer and display fitted to the dash, with the Sadev gear...
Yes, but you cannot 100% define 'satisfactory condition'.
By the way you are talking you could argue that ANY used car isn't 'satisfactory condition' as it isnt 100% perfect as it would (probably) be fresh from the import center.
Got a Geartronics flatshift ecu to replace the Sadev one we already had.
And fitted in the glovebox next to the Pectel T2 engine ecu.
And a vid of it running. Aplogies for the shoddy camera work, can't start the engine and hold the at the same time. It only has the exhaust...
Saturday we transfered the uprated fuel pump from the old car to the new car, plus fitted the old competition driveshafts into the new car.
The oil breather catch tank also went in. You can also see the adjuster bar for the alternator aswell.
Test fitted the bonnet and wings, and...
Here are a couple of pictures of the brake line fittings for those that were interested.
They are a similar item to this http://www.kiowa.co.uk/Products/Hydraulics/EMB_Compression_Couplings/Straight_Bulkhead_Coupling
In past years we've done quite a few rounds in the East Midlands / North East Midlands championships, but we're looking at trying to do some futher afield with the new car.
Hopefully go to places like Epynt etc
I'm not sure what they are technically called, but we got them from a local place that makes up hydraulic hoses etc.
They are an olive fitting by the way if thats any help
Dash display connected up and self tappered in, all connected up and working. Also wired up the Pectel T2 ECU, so all ready to go wiring wise.
Got some longer Jenvey throttle body trumpets off ebay as it makes fitting an air filter much easier. Had to modify them a little but they...
If I have time to look at a speedo i'm not trying hard enough :)
As theres no speedo drive in the gearbox, and no ABS anymore there isn't a way to use the normal speedo even if we needed one. That said, we can have a digital display from a trip meter to show the speed.
If anyone was...
Been working on various ideas about how to mount and display the various guages on the dash.
Finally ended up with this.
Past the point of no return
Drilled out the existing SMD's for the indictators I needed to use; indicators, headlights, main beam, charge light and oil pressure...
The last few weeks we have mostly been sorting out the wiring and engine mounts, so couldnt really take any worthwhile pics of progress :)
All the unused wires have been taken out the dash loom, and have just retained the wiring for the lights under the bonnet.
Fitted a battery box in the...
Cluster?
It's the wires going to the ECU i really want to identify in the big bundle of wires I have left.
The fan and is seperately wired anyway, so no trouble there :)
Thats the trouble, the gauge doesnt seem to have any specific wires in the plug going to the dash unit unlike the fuel gauge. Ill just have to kep trying to find where the ecu gets its input from
As for the project, its http://www.cliosport.net/forum/showthread.php?t=264615
not a normal...
Cheers, im doing more or less the opposite; a Mk1 engine in a Mk2. Everything will be fine ECU wise, its just I want to run the original guage. It has just proved impossible to trace the sensor back to the ECU
Ill be playing around with it more tomorrow anyway
Any ideas?
After a little more investigation it looks like it just works as a thermister, so there will be a resistance between two wires I can use, just need to find them.
I'm a little reluctant to just try shorting random wires together :)
Is there a way to get the coolant temperature guage working with nonstandard engine wiring / sender?
I have got a standard dash, uch and loom all the way through to the engine loom (so up to the big white block connector with the underbonnet relays/fuses), and want to try and drive the guage...
A tubular one...
We had some in the megane, taking it off the race suspension made the car too high for the air jacks to work though.
Theyre not cheap either
