Not stupid at all lad - if you don't know something, you don't know it. The forum is here to help :)
As the above video shows, the idea behind the OHT is simply to sheet water across the panels so it doesn't leave beads everywhere on the panel. Instead it all runs off. But this is only...
Doing after you've used them...
But on a serious note, just some warm water. You can buy pad cleaning solution, but I find with a gentle massage (oo er misses) it generally gets the polishes out without too much trouble. Then leave them to air dry naturally.
If your car's performance is so greatly affected by switching the AC on, I would suggest buying a better car.
Now I know why my old 1.2 was da fastist arownd - know ayr condishining!
All about the open hose technique first. The idea being it sheets water off the surface so there is less water to soak up.
The one that Toby has linked to is my favourite, but the one you have posted is just as good.

Very good, but they all start to fall apart after a while if you don't rinse them thoroughly and dry them after use. They basically eat through the glue that attaches the rubbery pouch to the hair. Fancy trying the Easirider one next...
You liking that one then Dawn? I had looked at it but...
