    What have you ordered? *Detailing*

Re: What have you ordered? I've read three reviews - one said it marred and the other two have said it didn't marr as much as a sponge, but showed signs of damage after 10 washes...

very stupid question but i have confused myself?

Kev is talking about a different type of head, Adam.

very stupid question but i have confused myself?

OK, LP is fine by hand. P1 however might be better. If you're open to other products, may I suggest the following; Wash Clay Wash Dry P1 or Lime Prime Blackhole Werkstat Acryllic Trigger
  13. J

very stupid question but i have confused myself?

Lol, where did P1 suddenly jump from?
  14. J

very stupid question but i have confused myself?

Yes because it contains a small amount of abrasives. I don't want to confuse you with any other products, but the prefered route for me would be Lime Prime, Blackhole, Werkstat. Purely because Lime Prime is a better product than SRP.

    Stealthy v6

Do people actually write decent adverts anymore? Info on the brakes??
  16. J

very stupid question but i have confused myself?

Blackhole is a glaze. No protection. Werkstat is a sealant. Offers protection. Hi x No. SRP>Blackhole>Werkstat :)
  17. J

very stupid question but i have confused myself?

The Werkstat stuff is a sealant lad. So it negates the need for a wax. Waxes and sealants come under the umbrella of LSPs or Last Stage Products/Protectants. They do the same thing (seal your paint) but have different qualities and benefits. Sealants last a lot longer than most waxes. Waxes...

very stupid question but i have confused myself?

Do you think all detailers are as cautious/suspicious as you and I, Kev? Or is it just the number of threads I've seen entitled "I took it to BwaB and now my paint's fucked"?
  19. J

very stupid question but i have confused myself?

That's all very well, and as stated before I am not jumping the gun as I know how many people have had excellent dealings with Steve over buying or selling cars. However, £50 for a detail is very low. My local garage would charge more. All I am suggesting is caution :)
  20. J

very stupid question but i have confused myself?

Ho. x Spot on lad. The Werkstat Prime stuff is superb, as mentioned in other threads, for things like britework, doorshuts and other hard to reach places. I wouldn't do the wax on top, personally. Steve has a very good reputation as a car dealer... but for £50, I would worry about his...

Have i got everything needed ?

You will be surprised how well you will get on with pads like that. There is almost always an angle that allows you to correct the area. Failing that, IP3.02 or 203s on a hand cut pad may be the only option open to you. In which case - linky

very stupid question but i have confused myself?

And just to add, it's the Werkstat Acrylic range you'll be after for Silver.
  23. J

very stupid question but i have confused myself?

I don't use snow foam for agitation around badges and grills as I don't believe the product contains enough lubrication. Snowfoam, rinse, wash 2BM, use Megs HyperWash in a spray bottle for the difficult areas with a soft detailing brush, then move on to the usual.
  24. J

very stupid question but i have confused myself?

You don't agitate snow foam buddy. And the wax will come after the SRP. SRP is a filler polish, so you're already filling some of the swirls. You could add in a glaze after SRP and before the wax, if you so wish.

    New Car Time (Finally)

No Recaros :( Good buy though, best colour (after IB, but they are a dime a dozen). I considered these before pushing my budget up to the S3. Really nice to drive and handle well :)

JD - Your thoughts on Z5 and ZFX

I can't buddy. If you are happy with the Z5, I see no reason why not to carry on with that. I like picking up second hand bits and testers from people so I can get through as many products as possible. Then I either stick or keep them, rather than selling them on again.

    found a bargain today

Depends what "cheap" brand it is fella. They do attachments for all and ***I think*** you can swap them over with a little bit of know-how.
