I can't stand these cars, but being a massive project man myself, I love it. And you've been cleaning, so that buys you my respect!!
Great stuff buddy, keep it up!
In that case, yes. The rust is not something you will be able to combat sadly. The simple fact is the amount of water and salt etc that gets thrown up makes it very likely that you'll get the rust re-occuring.
May I suggest, once you've managed to sort the locking rings, that you cover the rest...
Tar remover for the tar spots that will almost certainly be on the body of the dampers. Also, re the rust, a stiff brush and brush the rust off. Where is the rust? On the body of the shock or on the coilover thread?
It's not hard Dean, I promise. Ensure the area/panel is well lubed up and if you feel the clay starting to stick, another spritz is required. Yes you can go both ways, i.e. over lube and under lube the area. But you have to be pretty stupid to do the latter!
Always move the clay in the same...
^^this basically. I tend to take it case by case. This is not meant to be offensive, but some people's opinion of baked on is another person's "simples!" :)
I would start with something like APC as you have done. If that has no effect, step it up to something like AG Engine and Machine Cleaner...
Looks good buddy, but if I may?
Use the tar remover after you've washed the car. Other wise you will be rubbing dirt over the paint work as you remove the tar remover with the towel. Point two, don't use AG shampoo. Not a good one! If you're a Halfords shopper, try Meguirars Gold Class Shampoo...
Ebay, pistonheads, classifieds on here, breakers yards. So pretty much the usual places.

Totally understand you like it buddy, but it does look broken, with or without oversized spacers and camber shims!!
Any hoo, each to their own like you say!
And again, why use blackhole and SRP? SRP is a filler polish with very little "polishing" abilities, relative to other polishes. If you have swirls, and want to get rid of them, use something like 203s with an LC hand cut pad. Or find a friend/pro with a machine. If you want to fill, use SRP or...
Lol.
If you want to see the work you've put in (baring in mind the depth/gloss comes from the polishing stages) don't use 476. It's a great hard wearing wax, but looks very dull.
Depends what you are going for, looks or a hard wearing wax. If you want the latter, I'd sooner use a decent...
I'm sure it is very good stuff, but I just won't use it. Anything I can do (owning a red car that shows EVERYTHING) to not incurr marring, I will do.
There may be a hose pipe ban, but there isn't a bucket of water ban ;)
