Another minor update, car keeps on trucking
had abs issue that was combination of SAS and ABS plug to rear sensor, so after lots of mucking about sorted that
completed another winter so will back on summer wheels soon
rust has got worse, will update with pics this week, might even wash...
Prepping for MOT tomorrow and more old phase 1 gremlins rear their head, nothing major other than rarity and as such, cost....... sigh
luckily had a spare in shed from the breaker.... But now I'm worried that's just going to snap now too. Boo hiss. I'm going to look into replacing the rubber on...
definitely best approach mate as discussed, risk of loosing faith and burning out with the hours you were putting in on the car
come back fresh later in the year :)
Nice simple little job ticked off the list, sun visors removed, took old stickers off and cleaned them up.
Then refitted a new sticker kit from Renault.
I'm really enjoying having the car at the point where I can just tinker with these little fun jobs and enjoy the thing.
Cheers
Ben
f***s wrong with you, they're bloody gorgeous!
Annoying me, I use all the really messy back roads and everything. All I can think is the couple of layers of decent ish wax I put on back end of last summer are just working really well...
No matter how hard I try I just can't get that filthy..... Ahem
Not touched the outside since I think it was October last year and done normal 1000 ish miles a month, so 4k since last wash.... Maybe RB just doesn't show it. Getting a nice seeping effect from the salt now though, lovely!
sorry, the Ken Block thing isn't actually a video, I mean more the design of the thing is very Instagram cuz motorsport ready, rather than a simple clean design to a do a job. It's shouty, trying to says it's motorsport....but really is it? and as Kev mentions, essentially no it's not as it does...
You only get the upright for 300 and it looks like a child designed after watching a Ken block video imo
Can't imagine without the full bushing and linkage arm etc you'll get the same precise feel of the pms and the cable reverse lift design is just cheap and sloppy imo
Run mine 8 years daily now, recaros on Jon Foz frames help driving position. Cruise and climate make it totally fine day to day and it's great fun to smash about the back roads and doesn't behave too badly on motorway cruises either.
just thoroughly check it over for oil leaks, clutch slip, any nasty gearbox noises etc etc and if service history stacks up and looks well loved do a buy.
definitely condition over miles. Mines on 222k now and drives lovely still as I look after it.
That's exactly why you have one of his induction kits on it then chap!
Unfortunately for community support Facebook these days is the biggest resource so may eventually be a necessary evil, don't worry we're all odd and trolly so you'll be fine! 🤣
Allegedly those land rover clips do a...
That looks like an old hill power induction kit, Nick Hill closed shop years ago although still dabbles in the scene sometimes. He's not supplying parts anymore though.
Your best resource these days is join the mk1 1.8 Facebook groups, there's a clique of us over there and we can all advise...
glad you are thinking of saving it, be a shame for another to die.
looks a good base for a track orientated sympathetic mini resto as well and it'll make a nice thing to sling around Cadwell when all this madness is over.
if its a realtively rot free N plate you've lucked out too as they are...
tbh call that a result if that's all it needs, they are after all all 20 odd year old French tin cans now and only got to look at some of the other recent phase 1 project threads to see the horror stories! lol!
