if you run like 50mm spacers or something then perhaps, under heavy track use, may shave a few thousand miles off the bearings life. but basically no it wont cause more wear that you'll notice. talking perhaps changing a bearing every 4 years instead of every 5, lol!
it'll go on yes, with a bit of stretch, but won't be noticeable like the dub boys, tell them what the narrowest is, seem a 165 on an 8" rim, now thats some stretch!!!
if the cars still sitting near o/e height on the coilovers then you should have helpers in there, otherwide the distance from spring platform to top cap on full shock piston extension will be bigger than the height of the uncompressed spring, hence its loose
so other option is to wind the...
mk 3 polo or similar, skinny wheels, next to no weight and bounce it off anything without worrying about damaging it. probably pick one up and insure it for the price of winter tyres in 16" lol ;-)

i'd get a set, purely for cheap. i currently have crap 100k standard shocks and god awful apex springs, the ride is shocking. but i dont want to spend cash on a cheap runabout 172, so i wont, i'd rather spend a few quid to get it through its mot with little hassle (try assembling standard shocks...

i already have a covercraft noah taylored job but its taken a beating last winter and i was going to cover it with a cover, so double cover the car
i need one that fits okay but isnt crazy expensive

yeah man, had a few coolant issues and blown a header in half at mallory recently, now i'm actually using the car it wont stay mint anymore!lol!
got a can of gunk and the jetwash at the ready though, will get the worst of the mess off at some point, probably after donnington park in coupla...
not bowled over by them yet, but not had a chance to spank it through the twisties so no review as such just yet!
dialed them in for a mix of some more neg camber and a bit of pos castor :-)
main reason for lack of fun times was my brakes fell apart!looooool! to be sorted this week :-)...
totally stock lump, just pistons and some boost
stripped but caged, around 900kg i reckon and 270 odd bhp conservative estimate
