I used to work for Volvo, did my apprenticeship with them at there training centre, seen these things come in with near 300k on the clock. Awesome barges.
I've just checked auto data to see ir it has the engine specifications e.g. rod length, stroke, piston details an crank details. It doesn't but i'll checI the Renault manual I have
The Clarke ones are good, especially if your gonna be chucking it in an out of cars (I have one myself) but the Arcana one is better built an more stable. I have both lol
The Arcana does go higher though an lifts more but it weighs a ton itself lol
Tbh your gonna want a meter really an start with the basic's like I said. Take it the battery is all good? Tbh just keep driving to a minimal, or just keep it off the road until you drive it to the garage.
Thats right, we were only hoping for around 170bhp cause his last mk1 1.8 16v on twin 40's only made 160bhp ish. It really does move though an the carbs sound great.
Yeah he wants it to look a little more old school which i think the grill an trim will do aswell an dropping the it to sigle...
To be honest getting and engine in itself is a breeze, biggest thing we had to work was the ignition system really an seeing as we only needed it to control the spark, hence why we used KR ecu (early one as it has a more aggressive ignition curve) but that killed 2 birds with one stone an saved...

We made a bit of a mess but it was all done an packed away before his missus got home (she doesn't agree with it lol)...
Few more pics of the completed car, a few more things to put on it like an early mark 1 grill an chrome trim an replace the the black trim down the side with the chrome on too
The wheels are proffessor split rims (genuine splits)

Yeah i'm gonna post up some of the build an the finished product. As for the Carbs the main reason was that the manifold is readily available an its tried an testrd really an the manifolds for the bike Carbs usually contain rubber joiners to join the Carbs to the manifold which looks abit naff...
Well for the past couple of months been helping me mate build his most cabby, I'm a mechanic by trade an be likes getting stick in so when there's some knowledge needed or he gets stick I'm there lol.
