busy with it on my ph1, gone through the grades of paper, and even did one at 1500 grit, and I cant seem to get my finish right after using the Megs Scratch X, even bought the plastic Megs Scratch X, still seems very dull!!

well, I cleaned it, it made a slight difference for the better, but looks like I am going to have to get another one. Got quoted around £190 for it here :(
Did cleaning it help to the point that you didnt have to replace it? Damn thing is riveted in, not going to be easy to clean it. Do you know if they are generic over the range?
I seemed to have solved my misfire and power issues after cleaning the TB and helicoiling the stripped intake mani bolts, but my idle issues have gotten worse.
So the issue is that at startup it just wants to die, but is ok once warm.

just took mine off to clean it and, it is dirty, but it also seems to have been sealed using white silicon!!??!

I had the map sensor replaced a while ago, but I think it was with a second hand one, as i think they are all the same on the mk2 clio range, and they just grabbed one from the scrappers. Would I be able to find out exactly whats wrong with it if I had the car...
I am feeling slightly retarded, bit too early in the morning for me but.. isnt re-threading and cutting a specific thread for the helicoil the same thing?

sorry, got my numbers mixed up for the revs. Normally it sits at about 750rmp. The revs are also all over the place when driving at any speed really and you engage the clutch.
The idle control valve is the one stuck to the side of the throttle body isnt it?
car is running pretty shitty at the moment.. feels very down on power, but i have issues... see my other thread..

longer bolts I've tried, not helping me tho. A re-thread will have to go with the helicoils right? is there enough space to get them re-thread?
Also, in the mean time, is it bad that they have stripped? I mean is it causing damage or anything like that?

Hey guys.
If looking front on at the manifold, the back two bold on mine are pretty stripped, they bite a little bit, but are pretty stripped... one more session of taking them out and in will be the end of the tread.
Is this a bad thing or is it still ok seeing as the front three are still...
Hey all, guess I'm another one suffering from this. Its doing my nutt in.
So let me give a very brief rundown on the history of my problem.
Bought the car at 37000miles, belts and everything were changed
At first service, mechanic broke the knock sensor, didnt say anything, and when...
God I hate these misfire/judder problems. I'm stuck at a point now as well that I have no idea what to do...
but to answer your question, its is 90% going to be one of the following:
1. Spark plugs - check and replace if need be, use only the orig renault ones
2. HT leads - check and replace...
On a sensor mission today.
With regards to cleaning a sensor, namely the idle controll and the speedo, is it best to clean it with a cleaner that just strips off the dirt, or to use something like a switch cleaner, that cleans and lubricates?
