Be good to see some pictures!
Very unlikely you’ll be too loud for track days but the 182 manifold is a good upgrade and you should find the cat will be a direct bolt on to your existing system.
Good luck!

Brands Hatch 22nd May
Well, last weekend kind of started on Thursday last week when @Rob Quantrell and I headed down to Brands to set up our gazebo for the weekend. The idea being that we could rock up nice and relaxed on saturday morning and just unload the cars straight in without the faff of...
Just buy something like this.

There are probably 3 that you'll find you will ever use but once you have the hang of using them depinning a plug is easy.
Have you checked for fuel in the coolant or mayonnaise in the cam cover. Possible a head gasket problem but unlikely.
I would definitely check the timing and perhaps disregard the compression test.
Have you had any over Rev or missed gear incidents recently? This can cause timing to slip and...
I’m short, no. You won’t get low compression through bad timing UNLESS it’s so far out that the valves have touched the pistons and bent.
The fact that the compression is uneven across cylinders is also not a good sign.
Does the engine run? Any signs of burning oil?

Only really possible if your wheels already use spigot rings but some wheel designs may have enough meat in the centre to allow for them to be turned out to a larger diameter.
A decent machine shop or alloy wheel refurbisher should be able to do it or at least let you know if it’s possible with...
Yes that looks like it. I have one but you know you can easily add a return to your own one. Just with a small bulkhead fitting drilled in to the top

Nope you’re not missing anything, they are a pain to fit back.
Use plenty of wd40 and a light touch. It will go eventually.
Look carefully at the threads too. If it has cross threaded once already you may need to massage the threads back in line. They’re only plastic as you know so damage...
Heads can take a small amount of skimming and you can compensate using a thicker head gasket.
Difficult to see from the photos but you may get away with a light block sanding using some medium wet and dry.
And yes, someone has been at those ports. Possibly matched to an intake?

Do you run a rear anti roll bar? This will help to some extent for the front too as it will help to reduce the amount of lateral weight transfer.
You’ll notice a significant improvement in the way the car behaves too.

Thruxton 2nd May
Saturday morning began with packing the van before hitching up the trailer and loading the car. Feels like an age since I last did this!
I set of for the 2.5hour drive at about 11.30 with a planned stop in to see my parents on the way before arriving at the track at about 3pm...
Well, after a couple of late nights she's about ready.
The screen went in yesterday evening and then it was just a case of fitting the new Lexan windows to the doors and hanging them, followed by applying the new Livery.
The doors could benefit from a little more adjustment but they'll do for...
Early start today and before doing anything else I test fitted an offcut of vinyl to make sure it would take to the roof.
All seemed ok..
So with help from the wife we went about wrapping the roof and had it all done in about an hour or so. I have to say it has come out just as I wanted it and...
Have you not been following @RuskiWeldShit ? Ilya and I have been discussing the roof for some time. Sadly, he beat me to it by about 3 weeks but he's slowly making his whole car out of Carbon Kevlar. He is a crazy Russian though and I can't compete with that!
Thursday I freed up some time to crack on with the roof and before lunch I had the steel roof off the car. Oddly a harder job for having welded this one on myself a few years ago. Welds don't drill out as easily as spot welds but it was nothing an angle grinder couldn't handle.
More surprisingly...
FYI a cambelt change isn't normally an engine out job but if you are taking it out I'd suggest doing the engine and gearbox mounts. Sat for so long they'll probably shake themselves to bits as soon as you start using it anyway.
So, roof has demoulded ok and I'm glad to say that at 2.6kg I should go a little faster! The surface looks a little bumpy in places but I think there's enough resin over it so that it can flatted with a sand and then it will be ready to be wrapped.
Also spent Sunday wrapping the 2...
