Hi all.
I recently had a problem with my 2005 1.2 16v Clio. (01-05 model). Car was running fine then after doing a motorway trip the accelerator wasn't responding properly to my input. Revs all over the place, lagging, and then wouldn't idle properly. Then it wouldn't start sometimes, and when...
SOLVED
Just an update on my issue - which is now solved. Thanks everyone for your responses.
So, the car had been running like rubbish. Trouble starting, being sluggish to respond to accelerator inputs, power loss etc etc. Sometimes it would run okay and others it would be pretty bad. So i...
Just had the car plugged in. Fault code P0130, O2 sensor bank 1 circuit 1. Pre-cat sensor.
Will replace the sensor and update, cheers all. Unfortunately I don't have a compression kit otherwise I'd do that anyway, but spark plugs all seem to look okay and even in their colour. Only replaced a...
Hi all. Took my 2005 1.2 16V Clio to get tested today and it failed on the emissions:
"Exhaust emissions carbon monoxide content after 2nd fast idle excessive (2.92) [7.3.D.3]"
"Exhaust emissions lambda reading after 2nd fast idle outside specified limits (0.91) [7.3.D.3]"
The results were...
Evening all. Just got the car back. A list of work done: oil pump, oil pump seal, cambelt, oil level sensor, oil filter, oil and alternator belt.
Oil pump was the main issue, I've uploaded a picture of how it was. Thanks for the help all.
Just a quick update for you all. I was put in touch with a good mechanic yesterday. Had the car towed to the location and had all the oil/flush removed. Very gunky and hadn't seen a change in a while.
In the sump, there was something rolling around, some sort of sensor maybe. Will know more...
No he hasn't. He checked the oil filter before the flush and said it was dry and then he put the flush in and stopped because he realised if the oil filter was dry then the flush wasn't really going to help, then checked the filter again and said it was still dry. He hasn't drained anything...
Cheers. I'm going to wait until he's open on Monday and get him to take the flush out in case he's damaged it anymore. If I take it out now and its damaged then I haven't a leg to stand on.
He called me up after he had fitted the new pressure sensor. He said that it didn't fix the problem and therefore he recommended an engine flush with new oil filter etc. I agreed. I then went to collect the car and he said he had revised his plan and that it was most likely an oil pump problem...
Yeah I did. It was all good. I'm just worried now that the engine flush is damaging my engine as he's left it in there all day. Its sitting outside on the street beside his garage until I have it towed to someone tomorrow. I'm tempted to go up there and drain it and put new oil in.
He has left the car with the flush still in and handed it back to me and told me not to drive it. Shall I get the flush taken oit and some fresh oil put in, in order to have the pressure checked?
Yesterday my oil pressure light and stop light came on. Took it to the garage and had the pressure sensor replaced, which didn't fix it. The mechanic recommended an engine flush, new filter and oil.
He put the flush in and took the oil filter off but the oil filter was dry. He said that...
New switch put in and hasn't cleared the problem. Oil filter was taken off and is dry. Engine flush, new oil and filter will be done this afternoon. Has anyone got any ideas??
Hi all. Was driving today and all of a sudden the oil pressure light and stop light came on. Oil level is good, as is temperature (sitting between 2-4 bars). Can't say I've noticed any change in engine noise, but when you're concentrating it you just never know!
Lights only come on above...
Hi guys! Just an update managed to grab another wheel from a scrap yard for £25. Can't be bad to that.
Looked at getting it repaired and was going to cost £40. A second alloy repair company told me they wouldn't attempt to repair it as it would never be as strong as it were originally. Job...
Aye its holding pressure fine, and theres no damage to the tyre itself. Ill maybe have a look to see if theres a cheap spare online that I can pick up easily. I will let you guys know how I get on. Thanks for the info!
Yeah the spare would be 14" and the other on the same axle a normal 15" alloy like that pictured. It looks as if it had previously been filled by some sort of rubber jelly. Might need to put the MOT off until I get a replacement!
I do, but its smaller than the other alloys on the car. Its a 14" inch steelie. These are 15". Having a smaller wheel than the rest on would be a failure in itself wouldnt it?
Cheers, Mike!
Good afternoon all!
Drove home from work today and glanced down at my wheel upon getting out of the car to notice a bit of a chip in my alloy exposing a little bit more tyre than I feel comfortable with.
I just want to know, as I do a lot of motorway driving, is this likely to be dangerous...
