Was there not an article in Evo or something, saying that the marketing department at Renault wanted the road car to have a rear spoiler and expose the tail pipes more, but the aerodynamic guys stated that it's essential that the road car has no spoiler and keeps the pipes hidden because the...
Spotted a racing blue 182 with stripes last Thursday morning on the A16 out of Calais, following a 360 spider.
Also an 04 plate illiad blue V6 heading towards the circuit on the Saturday night about 10'ish, with some weird neon thing going on in the side vents!
Cracking weekend, looking...
Blimey, you've changed your tune..... it was only a couple of days ago you were claiming that Ktec were for the 'airfix' brigade... and that they didn't worry about quality cos they were all show and no go!? :S
^ Agreed, Ktec seems to be slated by people who have: a) never ordered anything from Ktec, or b) ordered stuff from them not having any idea how to fit it, then do a bodge job and blame Ktec.
They design the exhaust and have it manufactured for them I believe.
I take it with H&S you mean Hayward & Scott? The professional hand made custom people? A little bit different to Magnex, which I believe Andy does sell.
Most of the people you mention above don't actually manufacture their own systems, and unless you've had an exhaust go and you want to keep the car looking original, then a Ktec stealth system is the only option, unless you want pipes hanging out the back.
As for Ktec being for the 'airfix'...
Bad design, but a good quality exhaust according to Mark. In fairness, the welding was for the cat which he temporarily patched up, but the exhaust did need a fair bit of filing down to get a decent fit. I'm well impressed with it though, sounds very nice.
I think they're pony if they're not fitted properly, I bought a ktec stealth and had it fitted by Mark Fish and I'm well impressed. Although he did have to get the angle grinder out and welding kit to get a perfect fit!
I bought mine off my friend without test driving, he'd just received a ban due to being clocked at over 100mph on a dual carriageway in it, needless to say I got it at a bargain price!
I had the external aerial on my RA2 and it worked fine upto about 3 months ago, since then it's taken upto an hour to connect to satellites, I read in Evo that they had trouble connecting with the RA Navigator too...
It's like anything though, if you want to be one of the first to own a 197 then expect to pay a premium, if not then wait a few months until the dealers decide to make massive discounts on them.
I sat in a 197 at the Geneva motor show, and I was well impressed, ok I didn't drive it. but the seating position and the how solid it felt sold it to me...
