Is it possible there's air being drawn in the suction line? Assuming if you were running off a bottle you were using a small bit of good hose, so maybe unlikely.
Could the rail be choked?
@frayz Yeah I haven't measured anything up but I'd assume I could use up 3 square metres quite quickly. I'll put some 12mm at the front where the stock foam used to be and the boot floor and see what's left!
Cheers for the advice
@frayz Hi mate, been looking through the thread and was wondering if that's an OEM boot carpet you have? I'm sure I have a much smaller section for the boot, doesn't extend to the front seats.
My cars been off the road for a while and water has been getting in, so have stripped all my carpets...
Thought I'd add in for anyone's future reference, just got the starter out, tried turning it every which way to get it out the chassis leg past the manifold but was not happening. Ended up getting it out by turning it vertically (arse end up) and lifting out from the top.
@STEVE.M You know, I wouldnt be surprised if thats what it is. I dont remember noticing that bit, I had some grief with the manifold as the threads at the flange stripped and ended up helicoiling them so its been on and off a few times.
Regarding the light, I dont think so, unless its the EML...
@STEVE.M Cant work out where you mean on that pic, arrow looks like its pointing to the rear of the inlet?
@bloke Dont use facebook im afraid, will try to have a look around
Looks like it'll be monday now before they get back to me - if they come back saying that the throttle body hasn't sorted it and they suspect an ecu issue, would you advise taking it elsewhere, and if so, do you know anywhere local to myself that has a good rep?
Dropped off the throttle body today, wasn't expecting me to have it so quickly and says it might be monday until they get round to it ?
Apparently they were using clip to calibrate the throttle, but it wouldn't stay on and is revving itself again
Thanks for the info bud, pretty sure the one i got from eurocarparts was in a blue box too! Yep, definitely is a code for the heater circuit, not that im terribly knowledgeable on the subject but I'm fairly sure it's independent of the sensor circuit code.
Funnily enough that guy had a flamer...
It did clear my code when I put it in but in fairness it was only the code for the heater circuit.
Are those lambdas you linked definitely genuine? That seems an awfully good price
Blue, it's in lochgelly. I actually changed the rear lambda not long ago, chaps in the garage said they can't get a reading off it though. Was eurocarparts I got it from so shouldn't have a problem returning it anyway - cheers for the link
Sorry guys, I've missed out some key information here. Before I took the car for mot I had been getting fluctuating revs at idle, jumping between 1 and 2k and sometimes steadily increasing until I found a gear/cut the ignition. It was intermittent but seemed to have ironed itself out, it wasn't...
My emissions were way out of spec, it's in an auto electrics shop and they said that the lamdas are gone and they couldn't recalibrate the throttle - said if it isn't the throttle body it's likely to be an ecu issue, just praying that's not the case
I think I'm somewhat on your wavelength, interested to see how you get on with it. I'll leave you to it, feel like I've binge watched a series and am now impatiently waiting on the next episode ?
Hi mate, like many before me I've been completely absorbed and read your thread start to finish, beautiful and creative work! I'm sure you'll appreciate it in the years to come having documented it so thoroughly too.
I do have a question about the naca vents though. I'm not an engineer per se...
That's a good thing a suppose! As I say you need to separate the inlet to access the spark plugs so if they were testing compression or something that would make sense as to why it was off. Seems a daft design really but the other FWD cars ive owned had the exhaust coming out the front.
