Arh 3 door Cosworths!! that takes me back a bit. I used own one, bought it in 1996 was a white one. I sold it in 1998 to fund a house move and still miss it today:( . Trying to think if I had any problems with it back then... One thing that springs to mind was piston slap. Apparently quite...
Prospeed here too! Mine was fitted just over a week ago for £315 all in. Using a fair bit of fuel now! can't resist booting it. Absolutely spot on fit.
I had the same problem on mine, did both the dog bone and top mount by the cambelt and still knocked ended up being a cracked mount support bracket under the battery. The rubber geabox mount attached to it looked fine and it was only when I removed the bracket found that it had cracked. Cost £39...
I've run Eibach sportlines before with koni dampers and to be honest found the sportlines to progressive for me. Sure they tighten up nicely when you chuck it into a bend but I just could't get the damping right on the shocks to suit the progressive spring rate (either too damped initially on...
Mine was leaking power steering fluid a couple of weeks ago. Mike at Rentech checked It out and it was the front seal on the power steering pump that was leaking. Got new pump seals replaced for £50 plus vat and a bit of labour to remove and refit the pump....
I've only had my prospeed on since Friday and its getting on my tits already:( Which is a shame as it looks spot on. I went for a mid sport sound which I was told should be just enough to know I have sports exhaust but not too loud. Having the same problems as mentioned above, really boomy when...
Yeah great day even though I had to leave early and miss most of it!! I went and saw the GT and F3 racing at brands a couple of weeks ago and they sounded puny compared to them World series cars today ...unbelievable noise:D Car got filthy in the infield area, a bit of a dust bowl!!
Had to leave early today so missed a lot of the action. Can't believe the sound of those World series cars and Meganes. Only managed to get few pics before I left...here's a couple for the moment.
Looking to get my exhaust done by prospeed tomorrow morning. I was asked what type of exhaust noise I was after(Don't want anything too loud) and was recommended the 'mid sport system' Just wondering if this is the same as most prospeed users have gone for and any feedback appreciated.
Re: Exhaust just feel off
I know how you feel! I've just posted about 5 mins after you with the same problem. With original system prices like that defo going down the after market route. If this continues we'll have our own group buy by the end of the day!!:D
Typical, 2 days before making the trip up to Donnington this weekend for the RWS and my exhaust has decided to fall to bits on my 172 cup. It's still a one piece system as from new but its gone on the centre section so I think I need a new cat back system. I want to get a decent system but...

Well went out this morning turned ignition on (No fuel pump noise) turned key back one click and then back onto ignition on position and heard the fuel pump prime up, I then started it and fired into life first time. If anyone could see if their fuel pump does the same thing that would be...
Been having a few problems starting my 52 reg 172 Cup lately. Starts up on second attempt though. Done some research on other posts and TDC sensor seams favourite. One thing I've noticed which is strange though is - When I put the key into the ignition for the first time and turn it so all the...
One subtle but noticeable difference on the 172 Cup over the 172 FF which I don't think I've seen mentioned yet is the increased castor angle on the front suspension/hubs by 3 Degrees which alters the steering feel and added up with wider track makes for a more responsive front end but at the...
I'm obviously not alone in thinking of the same sort of swap. Thinking of moving my cup on and going down the Williams route to spare up some dosh for a two wheeled project. Tried williamsclio to have a look round but seems to be down at the moment. Can anyone tell me if there any key...
Last September my wifes Clio 1.5 Dci did exactly the same thing, aux belt failed wrapped itself round the the bottom pulley and took out the timing belt. it wrecked the top end of the engine and where the pistons hit the valves so hard it cracked three camshaft carriers aswell!! Got sweet FA on...
You'll be lucky to see any drop with the pro's mabye a smidge at the front but reduced roll for sure and they are still ok with OE dampers as quoted by Eibach but wouldn't expect the dampers to last as long. Sportlines which I'm running have dropped about 15mm or so but no more and these are...
As soon as I can really, fancy either Bedford or Brands (most local to me except for Goodwood which is about 20 mins away) but haven't been trackdaying since 1994 !! so a bit rusty, also a trip to the ring is a must this year.
Right, filled up with fuel and found a sweet spot for me, 1 1/4 turns frnt and 1 3/4 rear. Feeling much better now. I guess i'm also getting used to it aswell. thanks for the tips, I'm feeling much happier now:D
Had the same thing albeit many moons ago on my old R5 GT Turbo. Exactly the same syptoms as you mentioned feeling a knocking through pedals/floorpan when you wobble the steering. It ended up being a small 2 bolt coupling with rubber inserts which connects the main steering column to the rack...
My originals have only done 20K ish and fooked already. Don't fancy spending out on oem stuff if its going to be shot in another 20k which will be in about a year the way I'm clocking up miles at the mo.
Looking to change my front strut top mounts on my 172 Cup. Rung my local Renault stealer and they want £62 per side (cant remember if that was inc vat) for the kit !! So about £125 for the pair. From the tone of my voice I think he got the jist it was a bit on the pricey side with that i was...
OK just gone with 1 1/4 turns on the front and full on the rear and it is better :D but it's still not what I was hoping for still seems to be more bounce and fidget rather than planted if you know what I mean. Taken in a few 'A' roads I know like the back of my hand, i thought I was actually...
Even my svelt 13 stone plays havoc. Went up to Brands the other week and had my mate with me and car felt well balanced(std suspension) on the way home dropped him off and plenty of torque steer came back. I thought it might just be me but I'm obviously not the only one! a bag of cement on...
Thanks for your comments all.... I think its probably spring related rather than damper as they very progressive and off the car the Eibachs are actually longer than the std cup springs albeit a small amount. I have been adjusting equal amount front and rear on the damping but I'll have a go at...
Just finished fitting my 172 cup out with a set of Koni sport dampers and Eibach sportline springs. I've given it a week to bed in but to be honest I'm disappointed with it :dapprove: . I've tried playing around with the damper settings. I'm not sure if the springs are too progressive or the...
