Sorry to state the obvious but have you checked all the connections at the back of the head unit and the amp.
The other thing to check is to isolate the speakers using the fader and balance on the head unit you may be able to work out if its a single speaker or a channel on the amp. The only...
What music are you playing is it really bass heavy? Because if you feed to much bass to a full range speaker it cant handle it and will go quiet until the music goes to a less bass heavy piece and it will become louder again.

Yeah I agree with Tripps spend as much as you can afford within reason on the front speakers this is the main point of sound for any system providing all the detail. You can always run a system without a sub but you cant run it with out speakers!!!

Thanks Flatto
Yes please any info that saves me time and mistakes would be good.
What are you fitting? Not having paid any attention to car audio products for a couple of years I'm a little bit out of the loop on knowing whats good and whats not.
Thanks Flatto
Is it possible to replace the standard speaker unit with a 6.5. Does involve a lot of cutting and shutting and also is it worth it in the long run. If it is fairly easy would save me quite a bit on changing them for 5.25s
Thanks Flatto
