Super Unleaded

Are there any advantages on using super unleaded or any other high octane fuel over the standard in my new to me 172.

Thanks will go searching. Though how does the engine ecu deal with this is it like a an Impreza where it goes on an average measurement of the knock or does it take a constant measurement setting to current fuel grade?
