Can engines become accustomed to a certain RON. My ph1 seems to run a lot smoother and i think, quicker on normal 95 RON when compared to the 'better' stuff.
I went through a phase of trying each branded higher octane petrol and still preferred the cheaper 95 RON petrol.
Saw/heard you drive past on Old Stoke Road around 21:45.
Car had very bright HID's and fairly loud recessed exhaust. First white ph1 172 ive seen in the flesh, and looked awesome.
Saw the Black 1*2 on the B4011 Bicester Road moving pretty swiftly (on a sharp bend)!
Blue 172 with different exhaust, no idea what it was but it was (rectangular thing) on the bridge off the giratory system in Aylesbury.
Got flashed and a wave from a silver astra with chequered flag stickers...
The whine has progressed to a quiet metallic scrubbing noise. Still bearing?
In anyones opinion, is this safe to drive on as i have no time to get to a garage this week?
Just done another search on here, and all faulty bearings are making a droning noise? Mine is definitely not a drone but a high pitch whine. Still bearing?
Car has started making a rumbling noise on acceleration too, coincidently after going through a nasty pothole.
Cheers, definitely not the tyre or wheel arch.
Apologies for lack of mechanical knowledge, but is the wheel bearing fix a quick and easy job, or are we looking at big £££'s?
Can anyone shed any light on a possible cause for a whine that comes from the front drivers side wheel on my ph1.
Its a frequent whine that lasts for around 10 seconds then disappears but is usually back every minute or so. It sometimes disappears when i go round a corner or turn the wheel, not...
I have done that, i get movement of max 1cm back and forth (no im not being weak) before the whole car rocks about. so i guess/hope that its not broken.
Not sure how to check the dog bone mount bushes. But the upper engine mount above the cambelt does show some signs of movement.
The rubber wedges around the middle part appear to have been rubbing against the solid black square surround part (sorry for lack of technical names)
Red areas...
There seems to be a fair few of these threads, so I hope this is slightly different!
I get a rocking/ knocking/rattling type noise when accelerating briskly in 1st and 2nd sometimes 3rd. This noise also happens when driving across really uneven roads.
I don't know if this is related or just a...
Hi does anyone know where to get a replacement plastic rivet thing that goes onto the seat belt to stop the buckle piece from falling to the floor everytime i take my belt off? Car is a ph1 172 (pic below is just an example)
I have a ghetto fix with a safety pin holding a button, but would like...
Dads. Present car but had an old Rover 620ti, which scraped over every speedbump, loved that car.
Mums, BMW X5 4.8is
(not actual cars, just pics of autotrader)
cheers...just purchased.

Saw this on Wendover Road at around 13:30 today. Looked very impressive. Smoothed and low. Not too sure on the wheel colour though, not my thing, but well suited.
Spotted driving towards Aylesbury from Waddesdon direction. Car looked very clean in comparison to mine.
First other ph1 i've seen in Aylesbury for a long time!
Saw the silver clio at about 17:20 leaving long crendon towards Bicester. Looked very clean. Female driver i think (only managed a quick glance)
Inferno at about 17:30 driving towards stone on the main aylesbury road. Again, very clean and impressive colour in the late evening sun!
