Fair do's mate yeh i started the conversion a year or so ago on my ph1 by drilling tapping the block to fit 5 speeder etc but ended up abandoning it before i fitted into the car, will be very good i'm sure once done though,as you say if the box holds out
i'll answer all the megane engine questions in the very near future as i'm just starting a conversion with an 08 197 and an 08 written off 230 r26,having looked at both in depth i'd say its going to be a fairly easy conversion
yeh the pmps behind the driver,no i've never tried the temp sensor as yet, could that cause those symptoms mate, ben i know what yo mean and yes i mean when turning the ignition on to stage two to bring the pmp on,it never brings it on first time but always dose after that no matter how many times...
so the pump shold prime on the first key turn ?,well it never dose but always after that, last week i primed the pump by switching the key on and off 4 or 5 times before each start and it did seem ok on those occasions right enough,i have looked at the relay before and it seemed fine but i will...
Yeh both 02 sensors are connected up fine as i've double checked them,i've also replaced the throttle body and fuel pump to no avail,it seems that it doesn't prime the fuel pump when first switched on but always on the second attempt and every time after that, although i think thats normal...
Has anyone any experience of running a 172 on a 182 ecu etc,i've recently finished a 172 cup conversion and i'm having what i think is fuelling issues and the car appears to be running short of fuel once first started and after a few minuits the ecu seems to alter things and it then runs fine...
I followed a standard looking blue 182 along the mile straight to whitburn and up into armadale last night around 5.30,he gave it beans around the roundabout and up over tippethill but mines deffo quicker lol,the exhaust was hanging down at the rear on his
Just to confirm on the turbo f4r i've removed the flywheel and you can quite clearly see they've used the same block and just extanded the mouth and sump to fit the larger 6sp box,i've swapped the sump for the 182 one plus flywheel & clutch and offered the 5 speed 182 box up to it and marked the...
thats interesting to know its been done,i had a good look at both bottom ends today and see no reason why if done right it wouldn't work, they're not that different
got the engine/box out today and removed the gearbox,as mentioned i now see the different bolt pattern,i really dont want to try and fit the 6spd box but dont know wether to try and get the block drilled and tapped to accept the 182 gearbox or strip and use the internals in the 182 block,either...
Another option maybe would be to use my 182 engine block and transfer all engine internals into it from the turbo engine and use standard g/box etc,its for a turbo conversion i'm doing by the way
Hi can anyone confirm that a 5speed 172/182 gearbox will fit the F4R turbo engine found in the laguna or megane ? ,i take it the blocks are the same etc
Hi my 172 cup is not turning over,it started to get lazy when starting over the past few weeks and now wont start at all.
The battery is fully charged and the starter motor is working fine but theres no feed to the solenoid wire when trying to start, there is the battery and stop lights lit up on...
the electrics to the rack are not in the engine loom on the 1.2 either, none of the wiring for the steering gets touched when changing the engine other than where they join in the fusebox, the main 80A live and earth are still joined in the fusebox but its not enough for the steering to work so i...
Yeh it may turn out to be too light for me also but i'd like to try it first, the 172 and 182 engines are the same and i've fitted the 182 ex man etc aswell, the pins on the 172 loom fit the 182 ecu ok so it works fine
Hi looking for some help/advice if possible,i've just finished converting my 2004 1.2 16v clio to a 182 replica and i need some help with the wiring,i have the 2003 172 engine running on a 2005 182 ECU etc and it starts and runs but its not right and i have no elec power steering which i want to...
as far as i can see if i use an 850 belt and the water pump sits between the belt so its being turned by the bottom part of the belt then the water pump will be turning the opposite way to standard and that aint good, any advice please, thanks
Thanks franx,i have the rack etc but before i fit the engine i wanted to remove the p/s pump and re-route the shorter belt onto it without the pump,i take it thats what i need to do and what route does the belt take around the water pump and alt, thanks
Hi on my 182 conversion i'm wanting to use a manual rack and a cup alt bracket setup, ive got the cup setup fitted at the mo but it looks like when i remove the p/s pump to run a shorter belt it will foul the water pump,i've searched and see that its fine to use a shorter belt maybe around an 850...
