Thank you mate :) He said on the diagnostics the only thing flagged up on the car is that the ecu thinks the engine is running @ 136% so the car would probably die out at 5k thinking it was at the limiter perhaps? Matt

Cheers for clearing that up foxy :) it is indeed an X reg Ph1 172. Found out it went in with the original wheels but in black and had a BMC enclosed air filter so may well be someone from heres old one?

Nope mine was significantly worse :( Cambelt idler has snapped and smashed the cambelt casing. was very lucky not to have snapped the cambelt or damaged the engine. going to be a very big repair bill.

As far as i can see from the service history they were done @ 46k a year or so ago.
