I’m no expert here but, the default answer used to be ‘replace the shaft’. That said, I’m not sure how easy they are to source these days. There are some brands to avoid depending on who you speak to though. I’m sure someone with recent experience will chime in.
More info required but, if it’s for the golf, it should be in another section. You new post should include what year/Mk you have and what model (R, GTI, TFSI, etc). What you use the car for? Daily, a bit of track work, dedicated track car?
I’d seek out Shockworks in Melbourne. They have no off-the-shelf items. You let them know what the car will be used for, any aero devices being used, weight and distribution etc and they will make a set for you. If they’ve never done a Clio it might take a little longer but, definitely an...
Hi All, I’m going to bump this thread as I’m currently in a situation where Ph1 172 shafts seem like the obvious option and are what I was planning to use.
I’ve been building a 5 GTT Hillclimb car for a while and I’ve been doing a lot of work on the suspension. In particular, I’ve opted for a...
It’ll be interesting to see how it actually failed. If I was the supplier I’d seek to get hold of the upright assembly to figure it out, that way improvements to the kit or installation procedures can be made.
In the end I had to remove the module, remove the motor cover and manually push the glass up high enough to release the glass from the regulator and the fully remove the Regulator Motor. Once off I tested the motor and all was good. The module is not the easiest thing to test with those small pins!
I’ve been looking on the international race/rally part markets for a while and you’ll still pay 4000-6000 Euros for a Sadev ST85-17! It’s a fair price as you then have a fully customisable box with a heap of ratios and diff settings. Here’s hoping those numbers come in!
At the risk of hijacking this, I've been looking at gearbox options for Hillclimb use on my GTT (with the C1J still). Firstly I understand that there are some things you just can't do without spending, but I'd like to look to the long term.
Why ask here if I've got a C1J? The standard box is...
Coops, I’m tackling this job on my GTT. Three Trix bolts stripped on one side and one on the other. Not sure what to do with the old stub axle? Tempted to just cut it flush? May need an oxy torch to help out!
Depending on what tubing you’re using (Mild Steel CDS, 4130N or T45) there will be different costs. If you plan on racing I’d check if the series allows T45 or 4130N. Ultimately, the two largest costs are the fab work (cutting, bending and notching) and welding. Best to use TIG to minimise heat...
I’m looking to do the same for my R5 GTT. What I have noticed is most cages for Renaults don’t tie in the rear suspension properly. This is especially the case with R5 and Clio1.
Looks like you are using Catia CAD, so the benefit will be the ability to assess the torsional stiffness with the...
Well I’ve tried a few cool mvinations, but nothing is working. I’ve only tried the passenger side, so I’ll try the drivers side too asit could just be a Duff motor?
I recently bought a written off RS200 Cup for parts and have been stripping it down for the bits I need. All that is remaining are the craver's and passenger's door internals.
The electric windows are fully down and I can't access the glass retaining clips on the Window Regulator. To this end...
More caster gives you more steer negative camber on the outside wheel and reduces negative camber on the inside wheel. If you run lots of caster you shouldn’t need lots of static negative camber.
Basically, good caster setting will use both front tyres more effectively meaning more mechanical...
Hi All, if the airbags were removed from a Clio 3 RS200, for say a track car, would the dash throw up some kind of error?
If so, can the UCH (Body Control Module) be modified to turn off all the airbags?
I do love the LY colour. They never sold in Aus?
The turbo conversion looks pretty saweet too! Respect to Andy for his work. I think you always get a better std of workmanship when done by a real enthusiast.
I'm guessing that people probably don't know as there is a plentiful supply of Williams Steering Racks in UK, therefore no need to look at other sources. I looked at some of the ones being sold on eBay where you can check compatibility, but I've never been completely convinced by them.
They...
As per the title, does anyone know if they're the same or at least have the same mountings? No Williams sold in Aus, so Mk1 Megane might be an option for a Steering Rack for my Widetrack conversion.
OK here's a few pics of the parts off the car. I bolted up one of my 285mm TXI Caliper Extenders to show that the Hub/Carrier bolt spacing is indeed the same.
Here's the bit of the Carrier thats a little different, but I think it won't make any difference to fitment.
Here's the 259mm...
This morning I bought some Discs, Calipers and Carriers off a gut who was wrecking his car. I can now confirm that the smaller engined Clio2 models do appear to have the same 82mm hub bolt spacing as the R19, Clio1 and GTT.
I will get it all bolted up when my new Pads arrive. Maybe a few pics too.
Hello All, I done a few searches, but nothing solid could be found. I know the different size of Discs across the Renault range, but I'd like to know if hub bolt spacing and Caliper Carriers are the same too. Here's a an example to explain:
238mm Disc, Caliper Carrier and Caliper are fitted to...
Thanks Fred and G 172, that's exactly what I needed to know.
G 172 can you please PM mate a quote for the FCP565H including shipping to Australia.
Thanks,
Woz
This has probably been asked a few times before, but the searches I tried turned up FCP565H, but that they need to be 'trimmed' to fit?
The Ferodo website quotes FCP406H?
Which one do I need?
