I agree with most of the recommendations so far uncharted 123 are a must so is the last of us infamous 1 & 2 are really good gran turismo 5&6, heavy rain,red dead redemption,grand theft auto 4 & 5 also i really enjoyed saints row 2 & 3 have not played 4 but give that a try also

yeah headsets are 1000x better then a Bluetooth & Surround sound as the people your playing with can't hear all your background noise and your game sound. £50 isn't going to get you a surround sound headset but you can get a good stereo headset for that Saying That...

its still worth checking the hdmi cable as it could be a faulty cable that plays about if not then it is probably the ps3 then it will be a call to sony if still under warranty or take it to an independent console repair shop or lastly buy a new ps3
