Can anyone tell me how to change the dip pattern (ie to drive on the continent) of the HID lights in my 172 Mk2. The dealer says I have to buy a clip-on for the outside (£45.00!!!) but I have read that most HID lights have a shutter to set the beam pattern. Its not obvious on the back of the...
Speak for yourself, Im just past halfway to triple figures! - which makes me more than twice as old as most of you, but hey I can still do some stupid things.
I knew my advancing years would stand me in good stead one day!

Thanks John
Maplin listed these clip on type adaptors for a short while, but they have now been discontinued - read into that what you will !. The main problem it seems -apart from relying on your phones own speaker - much amplified, is that to listen to someone calling you, you have to retune...
Thanks SoLow, Its Nokia/Pama.
I havnt got any sort of dia. for the head unit, thats what I was hoping someone could sort for me - Its the standard Renault unit that comes with a 172.
Hi
I want to use the speakers from the car radio to hear calls on my mobile. I have a handsfree kit but the speaker quality is crap. I can tap into the speaker connections on the phone kit, but would appreciate some advice on the correct connections to the car, presumably on the back of the...
My Dealer told me that the lights are supposed to be self levelling, but mine dont seem to move by themselves. There are standard looking adjusters on the back of the lamp units ( White plastic screws with an allen key socket in them. )These adjust the whole light cluster. I was trying to adjust...
Hi Guys,
I want to take my Mk2 172 for a skiing holiday,(theyre supposed to learn parallel turns very quickly)
Renault UK say that you cant fit snow chains to a UK Spec 172, but dont appear to know why.
Can any of our European posters tell me what you have to do to fit chains?, or are Euro...

This also reminds us that however ugly a Scooby is, its built with proper protection for the passenger cell. Im not too sure if id walk away from a 6 x rollover in my 172! (Which I got instead of my Scooby, cos of the new Company Car tax regs.)

Hi,
Just been to my local dealer this morning, (with my Trafic, not the 172) & had a look at the new Megane. - Its a very striking car & I think pretty damm good in the looks department. Go and have a look, and more to the point put your name down for the 235bhp RS version coming out early...

Hi Guys,
I like these forums that use BB Code, especially all the bells & whistles.http://216.40.241.68/otn/happy/auto.gif
It would be nice, as mentioned above if Avatars were allowed in profiles, and the possibility to preview posts before they are posted.

Hi Guys,
Winter is nearly here! and the nights are drawing in. The main beam lights on my car (Mk2 172) are fairly useless.
Does anyone know if I can put real bulbs in (say 100-150 watt),or if this will melt the lenses. I know its illegal for road use, but I have a long twisty private drive...

My Dealer took a whole day!
The Dealer has to replace the whole unit, not just the ball. This is listed as 2 hours or so im told.
My dealer did the ECU upgrade, replaced the windscreen trim which looked loose, washed & valeted the car at the same time - all at no cost. I was happy for them to...

Hi.
Unfortunatly the boot light is only live when the boot is open - the switch may be permanently live but I cant find it - hence the request for a wiring diagram. Its to run a fridge, about 4 amps.
Does anyone know of a wiring diagram for a MK 2 172 on the web. I just need to tap into a 12v (always live) in the boot, so if anyone can suggest the best place please let me know.
thanks
Hi.
BMC list one, but they dont seem to be available in the UK at present. I did order one (pt no 295/01) but there was no sign after 2 months so I bought the Pipercross.

Hi,
I havnt noticed much difference with it, - not like the GGR induction kit on my old scooby which really made a noise.
However I didnt expect a great difference, you should only think of it as one of a series of things which may all add up to something, but individually are not...
