If you wanted big BHP and straight line speed, I would say you bought the wrong car. If you do go ahead with it, I would like a project thread as it will be a good read.
Also forgot to mention that since the belt change etc, the toxic fume light is on solid. There is a strong smell in the ca,r of a chemically burning type smell, more noticable with the heaters on!
Thanks
Hi all, well basically i posted on here a while ago regarding a whining noise coming from what appeared to be a belt/tensioner. The car was due a new cam and aux belt change, so i have now had this done, including the dephaser, but the nose is still there. It is exactly the same noise as before...
Yeah sure, tbh i would probably get the whole thing changed. The aux isn't due just yet, but would need to be done within the next 12 months anyway. Do you have a price for the belt and kit? Thanks
Sorry with all the questions.
The first is a slight whine, more noticable on idle and when taking off, it doesn't seem to get any louder at higher revs over say 3500rpm. Could this be one of the belts?
Secondly - when lights are on at night and i dab the brakes, the fog light dashboard light flickers.
Any help would be...
Has your mates focus been on the rollers? The reason i ask is that my friend has a mk1 RS @ 280bhp and once he hits 3rd and 4th i just wave and off he goes.
Hi, I have just had a service, oil change, filters, plugs etc with no immediate problems. However, about an hour after and a 20-30 miles the car has developed a bad misfire and is chugging in every gear.
Would having a set of brand new plugs potentially expose a faulty coilpack?
Thanks
I had this buzzing too. One solution is to pop the small plastic cover off next to to the interior light, where you will be able to disconnect the cc motor which will stop the buzzing. Obviously this will prevent the cc regulating the temperature in the car, but the blowers will still work.
Everybody always seems to talk about 172 cups being culled in winter, usually with the old ABS debate not far behind.
I was just interested to know if anyone has written off their cup this summer on the dry roads.
