Hi. Just bought a 172 cup, very impressed but a few questions.

  clio 172 cup
Hi all. This is my first post, And actually my first renault having been deeply into old Vw golf gti's for the last 10 years. I wanted something more modern and vw dont really cater for the lightweight fun market like Renault do these days.

Anyway, I bought a 172 cup today. Its a very nice car and drives extremely well. Im suprised at how good it feels actually.
I have noticed a few strange queries though and wondered if anyone would help.

There seems to be a buzzing or humming coming from the interior light. The guy seemed to think it may be something to do with the climate control (yes its one of the cups that came with climate). Is this right. anything to worry about?

The car sounds fairly tappety when warm. Is this normal. Plenty of oil in there and it drives and pulls very well. Should i check anythinf else?

I noticed at the back of the engine bay, sort of under the drivers side of the windscren theres a fluid bottle, is that the power steering bottle? Theres oil seeping out of the top around the cap, i can see bubbles fizzing on top of the cap. any ideas what that may be?

Finally. Any specialists in the south wales area.

i found mine to be noisy with the standard oil they throw in at Reno , now i use Motul 300V (great stuff) and all noise gone. Opie oils is the one to check.
I also get the humming from the interior light but only with engine off ? I do'nt care about it and it's lasted for 4 years + i still do'nt give a ....

Sounds kike a short somewhere, does'nt it ?

Buzzing: No idea, sorry.

Fluid pot: Power steering and they all leak! lol.

Tappy is fine as long as its really faint. Anything more and get it looked at.

Specialist in Bristol is Lemonnobby1 on here. Top bloke.

Welcome to the site my friend. :)

Wow, quick replys.
The buzzing is the circulation fan by the sounds of it, i just did a search.
If they all leak it kinda makes me feel better about the steering fluid lol.

The tapping can be heard if i wind the window down and let it idle. Its not that loud but maybe a knowledgeable eye would be a good idea.

Thanks for your help. Great site.

I had this buzzing too. One solution is to pop the small plastic cover off next to to the interior light, where you will be able to disconnect the cc motor which will stop the buzzing. Obviously this will prevent the cc regulating the temperature in the car, but the blowers will still work.

WTF?

WHY would you do that?

If its buzzing hit it a smack, itll be fine.

tapping noise is likely to be the wrong oil not lubing the valve gear and tappets properly or maybe the oil has not been changed for sometime. Get some decent Fully synthetic 5/40 in it.
As for the mystery fluid bottle, the coolant and power steering are under the passenger side of the windscreen. The brake fluid bottle is under the Drivers side behind the engine, so which one. The handbook will give you a clue.
