I went through 4 clutches in 2 years of evo ownership and less than 15k miles.
I managed to destroy one in 150 miles.
I did a lot of sprinting with balls out launches before anyone says I must be a cretin who can't drive lol.
The clutch does seem very good on the clio 172, so we'll see how...
If you change in 2nd at 7200 what revs does it pickup at in 3rd?
Same if you do it in 3rd?
Peak power is one thing, but raised rev limits help you keep it in the usable peak power range throught the gears.
I did a hillclimb recently in my standard 172 and noticed that changing on the...
That looks really nice.
I will be looking at doing something in July, so hopefully the mad rush for those will be finished and we will have some unbiased reviews to go off.
Thanks for showing me that.
Ian
They probably are if you run oil in them :S
I can't begin to tell you how much that engine had been neglected. Cams were very badly scored, as was the head. Had oil in the inlet. The oil pump area was covered in silicone. The dephazer pulley was knackered. The oil filter looked years old...
It was clever photography mate, it is covered in dents and scratches which doesn't bother me as it is purely for hillclimbs and track use.
The seats are amazing, but I will be amazed if they both go in easily. One is XL to fit my fat ass in it lol.
I will probably have to mount the...
Having bought the 172 Cup a couple of months ago, we quickly realised that it hadn't been looked after and the engine needed replacing.
I bought it cheap with an engine noise that just sounded like knackered lifters.
So, new engine went it. Put a new dephazer pulley, cam belt, full service...

I have been as honest as I can in the advert.
One wheel has quite a lot of kerbing and another has a dent in the...
Could anyone tell me if the wheels from my 2003 clio 172 cup would fit any other clios?
I'm selling them on ebay and someone has asked the question.
I'm guessing they will.
Well, not much left of the evo now :(
This is the latest pic of the clio.
I had to buy a new engine for it, as the one it came with was totally paggered.
So, cam belt, dephazer pulley, full service, brembo HC discs and carbone lorraine pads all round, group N engine and gearbox mounts...
Okay, next question.
What discs do people use?
I had performance friction for a short time, which were good until I upped the power too much.
I want to use the standard calipers and I have already chosen Carbotech XP10 pads to use.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Ian
Indeed they have.
They did agree to allow 1b list tyres, and then withdrew it.
I have decided to try Kumho KU31 as they are cheap and cheerful and if they are no good for track, I'll just use them on the road.
The car will be a mod prod, stripped and caged in the next month or 2, so these...
Cheers.
That is what I would expect to run on the road.
Does anyone track their car with 15 inch F1's on? I suspect I will need to go wider on the tyres.
I have bout some OZ F1's in 15 inch.
What tyre size do they use?
Secondly, I am doing some hillclimbs in road class, so need to know what 1A list tyres are best?
In Dry
Wet
or both.
Cheers for any help you can give.
F1's bought and K-tec Group N engine and gearbox mount ordered.
Will be going for Cam Belt, lifters, dephaser pulley and full service this week.
Looking forward to this coming together now.
Well I have picked it up.
Bodywork needs attention (quite a few scratches and the odd small dent) No rust though.
The engine sounds pretty bad, desperately need hydraulic lifters and a damn good service.
Happy with it though based on what I paid for it.
Set of these coilovers...
Well I've picked the car up.
The hydraulic lifters are goosed and need changing ASAP, engine needs a flush and new oil.
Fair few scratches on it, but more than likely being sprayed a different colour so not too worried about that.
I have had a quick look at the traders section to try and find a tuner for some advice on how to do subtle performance upgrades for track performance. (obviously I will need the tuner to do it).
Does anyone know of any reputable tuners in the North West?
I am based in Blackpool, but I could...

When I have a bit more time, I will have a good search on here.
At the moment I am being inundated for parts from the EVO and don't want to lose the momentum with that.
Quite a few bits have now been ordered
