Well, another rattle has occured, this time it seems to be coming from the passengers side at the back of the engine bay. It's very loud and annoying. Everytime I tap the wiper blades it makes a horrible rattle, I can't see anything that it could be so it must be coming from under the blades...

Lately my dials have been playing up and going abit crazy. Its happened before but seems to be increasing (well once every week or so). What happens is i'll be driving along fine then suddenly all my dials go down (off) to zero and all my warning lights come on, then after about 2 or seconds...

It had a service about 3 months ago so i presume spark plugs are ok or they would have been changed, it hasn't been mapped yet and its ok when starting cold, no problems there. It hasn't happened since starting this thread, see what awaits today on the way to work.

i have a ph2 172 and i cant think of any other way to describe the noise, it sounds like the clio lets off a loud trump just after when i set off lol. It just happens once upon set off and doesn't continue when driving. The noise is comin from the front right i believe. Anyone got any ideas? Cheers!

just got a skoda splitter today after reading on here that they fit on the phase 2 172s. Anyone got one of these and know how to fit it? Looks like there is no place to screw on the splitter. Any advice? Cheers

i think the heatshield is down the back of the engine near the manifold? Im goin to have a fiddle with it in the mornin and see what i can do to stop this blasted rattle!

Hi guys, i got a 172 a few months and back and i absolutly love it, but in the last week or so it has developed a strange rattle between 2-3k. Its a kind of metallic, tinny rattle just noticeable inside the car. Anyone else had this problem or have an thoughts? Cheers, Paul.
