Filled up today - regular Shell diesel - 883.9 miles after squeezing 58.5 litres in on the last fill up. Didn't get it quite as full this time so 73.1mpg is a bit higher than the actual mpg (68-70maybe?) Bl00dy boring though ;) Mostly A-road / dual carriageway, not much about town.

Thanks, Steve.
I have a leak that I need to track down that is currently leaving the passenger's footwell damp after heavy rain - this is causing misting up that wasn't happening before.
Got a leak somewhere?
Sorry, just re-read your post and see you've checked everywhere for dampness my bad.
Thanks for previous advice on stuck slider guys - passengers side new disc and pads all looking good now.
So now I've moved to the driver's side and the previous owner has somewhat rounded off both the carrier bolts and they need to come off to replace the disc and get the other stuck slider...
Thanks guys, kind of makes sense if they have a joint at each end I suppose.
Yes, tracking will be first on my list after the MOT, especially since I've replaced the tyres with some part-worns (don't worry it's not being driven currently).
What problems can a warped driveshaft cause?
Would bent driveshafts create tyre wear like this?
The wear isn't all the way round the tyre so I'm assuming it's linked to the position the driveshaft is in during each rotation - or could it be some other suspension misalignment?
This is the passenger side, the drivers side isn't so bad but...
Thanks Jimbo, I think emery wrapped round something - even a slow small drill would be a good plan.
Other remaining problem is a snapped wheel bolt that is flush with the hub and not enough sticking out the back to get hold of. I currently have a hole in it but it's off centre - I'm thinking...
Well, blow torch + vice + big hammer + force + gravity got it out finally :)
Any tips for cleaning up the hole for the new guide pin? Can I get away with a slow drill to clean it or must I get hold of a thin wire brush attachment for the drill? Should I soak the hole with anything? Am in no...
Yes I have searched the other threads...OK so I'm changing pads and discs on a '99 1.6 16v.
Noticed that the pad wear was uneven and it turns out one slider is seriously welded with rust into the carrier. It's not all the way in and it's been in the bench vice, soaked with penetrating stuff...
You can install an ESXi (or ESX if on version <5) instance into VMware workstation on your powerful desktop PC for home lab. VMware workstation separates ESXi from your hardware so that you don't run into compatibility problems. Need to have that VT capable CPU tho.
If you wanted to install...
OK well to set up a home lab to play with all features of vSphere 4.1...
Ideally a PC with an Intel processor that is "VT" capable or an AMD one that is AMD-V capable (you usually turn on the feature in the bios). I just about managed with 8GB but 12GB would have been much nicer.
Obviously...
KDF does Hyper-V have to sit on top of the W2K8 O/S whereas the decent VMware ones are an O/S in their own right.
There are free versions of VMware that will install over Windows but I guess they have their limitations for business critical stuff.
Hi, no knowledge of Hyper-V (yet) but I think VMware products regarded as more industry standard and expensive.
Would need to know to what level you would be using it to point you to a guide.
Are we talking home lab or full datacenter? :)
There are free products and paid for products - which...
I've played that game alot and used another 0.8 gallons after the miles range disappeared, never dared to go further. Never came unstuck.
So with a gallon left it should be possible to go another 60-70.
Probably a bad habit though if there's cr@p at the bottom of the tank getting sucked through :)
Hi folks.
Don't know alot about cars, am better with computers!
Found this place while starting to research getting an older 172. Not sure whether I'm looking for a daily driver or just a toy ;) but since I've already got an old but solid Clio Dci and fuel and insurance costs are...
Hello, first post, nice place you've got here.
I needed a 2nd car 18 months ago and worked out the Clio DCI was the one to go for (especially since my wife had all the no claims! ). Managed to pick up a one owner 2001 model with 89k on and it's been excellent. My mechanic says to call him...
