Ive a few so far on a july 03 172:
5 trips to renault for the faulty alarm that is hopefully fixed now
A slipping clutch that has been replaced
When they had replaced the clutch they said the car sounded noisey so have replaced an engine mounting
Hazard lights going on and off with a...
Sad to say im suffering the same prob. Alarm goes off when it feels like it. Its booked into renault next week for the third time to try and fix it. Best get yours booked in as soon as before it gets any worse
Just has a mind of its own!!! Just goes off constantly a few minutes after ive set it. Booked the car in for next week for the clutch and alarm. Clutch is definetly slipping and was more noticeable this morning when it was freezing. Did it from 3rd right up to 5th.
Will take your advice when i go to the garage. Dont have a high opinion of the mechanics anyway so will check the clutch when it comes back out. Any ideas on how long it takes to fix a clutch?
Only done 10k so was surprised to notice it slipping. The cars got to go back in to get the alarm seen to again(3rd time!!!!) so ill get them to sort the clutch then. I know the 172 has a few common probs but wasnt expecting the clutch to be one of them
When i accelerate hard in fourth or fifth gear my clutch has started to slip. Has only started to happen in the past few days!! Anyone any ideas on whether i should up rate it or just get renault to replace it?
I took the car in to get the alarm problem seen to again today. This time theyve told me its faulty sensors, and not the control unit that was the problem the last time. So its been fixed under warranty and its not made a sound since ive got it home. Hopefully i wont be making a third trip back...
Cheer norfolkminis, ill make sure the dealer changes the wires around.De activating the sensors just now is the only way i can get the thing to shut up. Its been driving me and my neighbours nuts. This is the second time its going back to renault for this problem so am getting really fed up now.
Im having major problems with my 172 alarm which is why its going back into renault on thursday.Mine keeps going off constantly for no reason. To deactivate it i have to turn the key till the engine lights come on then turn it off then back to the engine lights then off again. When i then lock...
When my dci was done i thought i could cover it but ended up having to get a full side sprayred. The only good thing to come out of mine was that the little wa***rs that did it didnt realise it was caught on cctv. They went to court as they did mine and another 3 cars but only got a fine cause...
I have nearly 6k on mine and its started developing the same symptoms as yours but i think its just another renault trait. So nothing to worry about, hopefully
Same thing happened to me yesterday when i tried to get reverse. Its been fine every other time apart from that. Looks like ill be visiting reno quicker than i planned
Looks like this may be another renault trait to go along with the 4k rattle.
There is one thing that would make my day better. When i was a newbie i never received a poking! :( _KDF would you be so kind as this would cheer me up
Am about to book it in for a service so will get it looked at then. It does clunk when it goes into first. If i sit stationery and go through the gear box the only gear that doesnt really clunk is fifth.
Cheers Pete. Just seems to have happened all of a sudden. Its done just over 5k and is 11 weeks old but wasnt expecting to have clutch or gearbox problems already.
...had a problem engaging first gear? When i go for first gear now it doesnt engage as smoothly as it has done before. Anyone have any ideas as to what may be wrong?
