I did the exhaust cam last.
I did 'nip' them up tight and tested the the timing with the horseshoe before torquing them up. When I torqued them, they didn't move.
It's been a few months since I did it, but I seem to remember tightening the depahser and then putting some tension on the exhaust pulley anti clockwise while I nipped up the nut up.
It was if the locking tool had a slight bit of movement in it and added up with a bit of movement elsewhere...
The Clio was 10 months old and the Fiesta 9 months old, the attempted thefts were 7 years apart.
I live in Solihull, car crime is rife over here at the moment. Obviously the result of living in an affluent area 😁
Current trend is car jacking or breaking in and stealing keys, but the cars they go...
Back to sensible again. Rare 5 door model. They tried to steal this, so it was sold the same day!
Bought the 197 for the wife. We sold it 4 years ago to a neighbour and bought it back 6 months ago.
Built this, done 1300 miles in 3 years!
Bought a white Jag XFS 3.0 diesel. Was a great car, but...
Bought this new in 2010. Technically it was the wife's a I had a company van!
They started stripping the 200 on the drive until I disturbed them. The wife was paranoid that they would come back so it was sold and replaced with the first 182
I bought this to play with, it was the 3.2 V6 one...
I'm sad. I have a similar list for the Clio 197 and 200 we have, and as for the Westfield I built, I itemised every penny!!
I used to have a PCP Ford (had Focus, Fiesta etc) but after they tried to steal my Fiesta ST, I've stuck to old cars. The 182 has cost me £50 a month, whereas my Fiesta was...
If the diamond button on the boot and the passenger door button, lock the car, it's most probably the button.
They can be intermittent or completely fail.
Cheap to fix, but a bit of a fiddle!
As above, I think good 14-16 ohms, faulty ones 3-4 ohms (on the 2 I've replaced).
I had number 2 go on mine a couple of months ago-Be aware, Renault number the cylinders from the flywheel end!!
Takes 15 minutes to swap one, it helps to lube the Orings before you push the rail back in.
To be honest, it was on a 197, I picked up the wrong engine mount to cylinder head bolt and wound it in.
It was a 10mm bolt going into a 12mm hole, but as the mount and cylinder head weren't aligned, and it felt like it was going in.
As soon as it touched the belt, it wouldn't screw in any more...
It isn't expensive, there's a how to for removing the door card, but you've obviously sussed that one out!
Have a read, the switch needs to be soldered, but I've done 4 now and it's not too difficult.
It should just waggle loose. It maybe a bit stiff and stuck to the door with 10 years of crud! If I remember correctly, it's just the plastic that comes out.
Mine got so far and jumped teeth.
I've removed 4 clio door handles and only one was stiff. It was the same set up on my jag XF too.
Could do with a picture of the inside mechanism, from memory it's a worm and gear type set up, but without moving the gear. the handle wont come out.
I assume you've wound it in and out to try and...
I assume this is on a mk3?
Mine did something similar, looking from inside the door panel, it looked as if the teeth were jumping. I spayed some WD40 on it and it sorted it.
Have 140K on my 182-it uses no oil and still pulls like it always has, in fact it feels quicker than my 197!
Mick at Diamond motors says a customer of his has one on 250k miles.
Make sure you go to a reputable place recommended on here.
My wife's 200 had a 1.6 dephaser fitted amongst other horrors by some back street guy before we bought it.
I bought the genuine tools and did my 182 which had previously been done by a specialist, it was miles out.
I've just my 197 which...
My wife had an intermittent problem with hers.
Turned out, if it was next to or near her mobile, it wouldn't work. She keeps her mobile away from it now and has no problems!
