thanks, yeah I totally agree about spending the money to check it.
I've just been to look at a car for my girlfriend, and the guy at the dealership did me a HPI check as they get them for free. It came back clear. We also rang the company that holds the finance deal for the car, and it is...
Hi all.
I've sold my Clio 172 cup and I've put a deposit down on an r26. Bye bye cliosport . Thanks to everyone who has helped me here over the years.
Anyway, I've done a cheap hpi check but is it the same as the official hpi check on their website? I think it's £20.
Is the only...

Has anyone tried this for noisy hydraulic tappets / rockers? Not too keen on putting anything in my engine apart from oil, but I've heard this stuff can be quite good at quietening down tappets. Any advice?
There are 2 noises. Horrid rattle / tapping when the car has warmed up and is sat idling. This noise does go above 2k revs. Then the second noise is a kind of grinding / whooshing sound. It appears when the car is warm and when I pump the accelerator. It comes at 2k revs on accelerating and then...
There's something definitely wrong. Sounds really bad and I want to sell the car. No one will buy it when it sounds like it does at the moment. So gonna have to fork out and get it done.
yeah i keep getting advised to change that. Just gonna have to bite the bullet and get it looked at I think. Just didnt think it could be that cos of the area the noise is coming from.
ive done 79,000, and i had the cambelt done about 7k ago. I have no idea if they did the pulleys though which is f**king annoying. I want to get the dephaser pulley / belt looked at.
I really think its a mixture of one of the belts and the tappets playing up, but I need a specialist to look...
Where the air intake meets the engine, there is a flap inside that opens and shuts when revving the engine. Are there anymore of these flaps inside that top part of the engine - underneath where the RenaultSport writing is on the engine?
I'm getting a horrible sounding engine when warm and...
Is the aux belt the same thing as the accessory / alternator belt? If so, I'm guessing this comes as a full kit with tensioners and pulleys? Also the 172 cup version is different (none air con)?
ah right OK. Could the belt be the cause of the tapping too? I'm worried its the dephaser causing the grinding, and the tappets causing the awful tapping
I'm having a lot of trouble with my engine being very tappety and noisy when idle (after being warmed up).
I've had the cam belt and aux belt changed about 10k ago. Not sure about the dephaser pulley though. I'm getting the oil flushed and changed at the weekend - last changed around 7k ago...
So these codes point to the lambda sensors ? I did use to have a decat fitted, and the guy who removed it and put the original piece back on moaned that it was a difficult job. Maybe he's not done the job right.....or the sensor it fooked like you say.
I have these 2 error codes on my 172 cup:
P0136 Oxygen 02 Sensor Circuit Malfunction / Low Voltage (Bank 1, Sensor 2)
P0141 Oxygen 02 Sensor Heater Circuit Malfunction (Bank 1, Sensor 2)
I've been here http://www.obd-codes.com/ to check them out, but it doesnt really mean a lot to me. Can...
