Please help with Engine Issue - 182 2004

1-2 degrees wont cause damage, but will have an effect on performance. I actually made my own tool for holding the cams, the tool in the video is genuine Renault used for checking. The problem that arises, as I see it, is that the pulley locking tool does indeed lock the pulleys but the cams can...

    Gearbox seal repair kit

Can the AC pump turn on with no system pressure

Yes ! there is a pressure sensor in the system which will stop the compressor running if its low / empty. It is quite unlikely the compressor is knackered as the oil in the system usually collects there. take it to an air con specialist and they will vac it down to see if theres a leak before...

Cambelt tensioner - is this normal?

Hi Loggyboy, Thanks for response, it does it when I turn the engine over by hand. I am quite new to Renault engines and haven't had experience of tensioners like this before. (used to mk2 golfs where there is a solid tensioner!) I assume then its there to keep a constant tension on the belt?

Cambelt tensioner - is this normal?

Hope someone can advise me please. Have just done cam belt with engine out on stand. All timed up good - cam checking tool falls in with 0 effort!! However when turning the engine over I notice that the alignment marks on the tensioner move? Obviously all is torqued up but the triangle on the...

Re-fitting hydraulic tappets to overhauled head.

Hi All Just about to re-fit cams and valve train to overhauled head, hit has had valve seats re-cut and new Supertech valves. Have read about problems some people have had with the tappets staying jacked open and not allowing valves to close fully resulting in no compression and misfire...

Piston cooling oil jets - replace or blank off.

Thanks Mark, I guessed that they're handed with the 2 different part numbers and photographed them before removing and have the old ones to gauge depth. thanks Laine. I ended up removing them by tig welding a bolt on the end and using a slide hammer - came out really easy! I have removed the oil...

Piston cooling oil jets - replace or blank off.

Ok, as a follow on from original question - thanks for replies - machining has been completed and I need to fit the new jets! is it just a case of tapping them in with a drift and should I put some sort of retaining compound (Loctite) on them too?

182 dash wiring / fitting datalogger and Rt dash2

Hope someone can help please. I wish to fit a Race technology data logger and Dash2 to my 182 race car. inputs for the logger I can pick up with independent sensors but for the dash I would like to use existing wiring for warning lights and fuel gauge etc. Does anyone have a wiring...

Another 182 cam belt/timing tools thread

The hex nut shouldn't be too tight, its only a cover with a seal, there is a fastener underneath that holds the dephaser on.

    alternator belt

Not wishing to appear opportunist, but I have a set of genuine Renault valves from an engine I have stripped. The engine was running fine before disassembly. They engine has, however, covered 120,000 miles. Might be worth getting the opinion of a specialist to see if they are an option if you...

Piston cooling oil jets - replace or blank off.

As per title, on re-building an engine has anyone blanked these off and re-assembled the engine without issues? A couple in my block will have to be machined out and am concerned in loosing the interference fit for replacements. For years engines didn't have these and I am wondering if there are...

Hi All In the middle of rebuilding engine for a track car and have question concerning oil pump. Engine had done 120k miles before being pulled down so I guess oil pump should get some attention. 182 performance down when hot

Wondered if someone could give me some help please. Recently, the car seems to be loosing performance once it is fully warmed up. If I wait until the temp gauge is central and then take it to 5000 rpm I still get the nice little kick that it used to have. I don't take it much further at this...

Mocal socketless hose. GIVE ME YOUR TIPS

I have used this loads of times on race engines and never had a problem with it. As Dan said, fitting in a vice and hot water is the way. Do not put jubillee clips on, the stuff is not designed for it, if you tighten them enough to have any effect the ridges on the fitting will start to cut...
