£1,000 for new exhaust system?!!!!!

Just been to Kwik Fit and apparently I need a whole new system (all 3 parts) including Cat. They want £1,000!!!! Please advise what to do !!!!!

Go to GDI, KTEC, PRO SPEED etc... get an exhaust thats 10x better and a lifetime guarantee for half the money?

i got a mint rear backbox you can have for £50, only done a few 000' miles

or a 6month old full sportex cat back system for 125 delivered.

They will buy it from renault, then sell it to you. As said plenty of after market ones out there.

its weird! i dont see how garages etc can sell shi**y replacement exhaust at that price and you can get a stainless for 300 to 400 quid!

but btw, ive got a receipt from Sh*t fit and the rear box and centre section are only about 230 for both so thats one expensive cat.

The reciept shows the exhaust got fitted in april last year and i had to get the whole system replaced (inc the cat) as it fell to bits in mid august, just a couple of weeks after i bought the car so they're exhausts are rubbish,

yeah roundabout that but still thats like 650 quid tops for the lot so where do they get the other 300 quid from? labour is an hour max in a garage surely

Phoned up K-Tec and I can get a stealth back box and sports cat for 670 - does that sound good? Do we still get discount here? Can't beleive how much these things cost!!!

It might be worth checking whether you actually need a new cat. I know from experiance they will try and sell you everything when actually you only need a back box

Cats dont fail much on 172 sports, non genuine is around £200 odd fron Euro car parts.
Get a 2nd opinion on the cat, would be suprised if it needed doing.

i second that its really not a hard job at all just involves getting dirty which i think some people are affraid of!!

^^ why?? it cost next to nothing to get it fitted and takes them about 20mins and it should be a good job (not blowing). If the cats knackered mate keep an eye out for a 2nd hand one or put an ad in the wanted section
