‘Claud’ The RB 182

Also worth noting, genuine Renault valeo clutches have thicker straps on them compared to the ‘oem’ valeo that you can get from the likes of ECP and GSF. The straps on those ones are noticeably less substantial.

Food for thought then on an ‘upgraded’ option perhaps …?

On a different note

After my gearbox spilt its gutts, the Marshalls told me I was just about to be black flagged for noise

8db over apparently …. Silencers have moved so hoping it’s just a leak

What are the limits at Brands?

Pure Motorsport exhausts with sports cat and centre silencers are between 89-92 dB on stock engines.

My new car has consistently been 97db with the same system and that ridiculously loud engine.

105 static and 92 flyby.

I was 94 static, but apparently 100 on the fly which seems unrealistic to me…

That’s why I’m wondering if the exhaust shifting has caused an issue

Decatted Milltek non res

Never had a problem with the exact same setup on mine. Although I never did Brands.

Same noise limits as everywhere else though.

Hmmm I’ve never been to a track for a while that uses flyby so I’m not sure what mine would be. Make the journey North.

Not seen anyone get done for noise at donnington and there was some very loud cars there.

Whose going to fix it mate? Its nigh on the perfect RB tae👌🏼

Thanks for the nice comments mate.

I’m sourcing a second box hopefully from @Udder Nonce , will be sending it to Mark @NorthloopCup to check over and refresh where necessary.

Plan is to replace anything on the second box that is even remotely worn and do the seals and syncro’s etc for peace of mind because I cannot be assed putting another box in to find more issues/have another drive related problem within a short time period and have to drag the b*****d back out again.

Then fit a diff and a new clutch as well as potentially, the drive shafts also.

No half measures with you my guy, fair play Sir👌🏼

My bank account doesn’t enjoy this.

My background is racing though, and I’ve spent too much time over the years re fixing other peoples bodge jobs and half jobs. Nothing worse than getting to track and spending all that money and then having a mechanical that, within reason, could be avoided x

Finally got round to cleaning the clio. Had pretty much been left since the box (now suspected diff) crapped itself. So looked a bit sorry for itself, dirty, oily and covered in brake dust.

Took a while to get all the oil off, but has appeased my ocd making it atleast look good again despite the hole in the gearbox 😂

Missing being able to use it already

Things have got further out of hand since we last spoke.

I ordered all of the above…. As well as,

I’ve got a new box inbound that’s being refreshed by mark.

Refurbed arms with new poly bushes and pure plates.

Oem clutch tube.

Lemforder New track rod ends.

Lemforder New ball joints.

Refurbed hubs with snr bearings.

Complete subframe refurb and arb etc.

New drive shafts.

Make. It. Stop.

Update.

Diff and clutch etc is on its way.

I have the doner box in my possession which I am hoping to clean up a bit.

I now how a spare subframe, arb, wishbones and hubs. I will be pressing out the bearings and bushes soon and getting those refurbed and then fitted up with all new poly bushes and rod ends and ball joints etc.

Need new abs sensor for the front if you have any recommendations ?

Slowly making progress. Bit painful but waiting for parts !

I used to pay the K Tec Tax but discovered those were Bosch equivalents so got them from DMFX in Darlington.

Bosch seems to be out of stock and I couldn't find them in their catalogue, but Stark does them.

The part number is 8200186294 for reference.

I've got rear sensors from Stark and they're great, but never tried the fronts. I imagine they'll be fine.

Triscan does them as well, only one left by the looks of things.

Thanks mate.

Not sure how far I can go with this refurb and it still align to a sensible timeline for use this year. Nuts and bolts for example, I only have what’s on the car and due to timings on my mates ramp, they will likely have to go back in

Just take your time fella. I've acquired a ton of parts to fit mine lol

Just need to find the time to fit them all and update the thread.

Amazing little cars.

I need to find out what bolts I need. Ideally better than the Renault cheese ones

The correct part number for your 182 is 8200186294, but the information on Autodoc seems incorrect.

Here are the relevant part numbers:
  • Renault: 8200186294 (Stark: SKWSS-0350067)
  • Renault: 7700411747 (Stark: SKWSS-0350095)
According to Renault, both part numbers are for cars with ESP, but only one is correct for your car.

Now one has an Active Sensor, the other an Inductive Sensor. The difference is:
  • SKWSS-0350067: Active Sensor, advanced systems like ESP
  • SKWSS-0350095: Inductive Sensor, basic ABS systems
However, Autodoc states that SKWSS-0350067 is for cars without ESP, which contradicts this information:
Bloody confusing lol

If I was a betting man I'd say 8200186294 (Stark: SKWSS-0350067) is the right one, but don't blame me if it goes tits up lol

Just some of the bits that have turned up 🤦🏽‍♂️

Loosing track of what’s been ordered and what I’ve got tbh. So writing it here.

Should be

Black line LSD
OEM Inner track rods kits
Lemforder Rod ends
Lemforder Ball joints
SNR Front wheel bearings
Hubs to be refurbed
Redline Pas fluid
Motul brake fluid
Sachs performance clutch
Oem clutch bolts
New drive shafts
Doner gearbox to be refurbed
Subframe to be refurbed
Subframe supports to be refurbed
Arb to be refurbed
Pure wishbones to be refurbed
Powerflex arb bushes (inner and outer)
Powerflex wishbone bushes
Powerflex steering rack bushes
Front abs sensors

I ‘think’ that’s it…. f**king hope so.

Reading your list I just remembered the 2 brackets that bolt from the wishbone to the chassis, I could drop them off back from the unit monday, they'll be scrap otherwise!

That would be handy mate. I’ve got a feeling I’ve only got one of the mental things that go from the wishbone up the inside of the arch liner btw

Will check tomo

Thanks for all your help
