0-100-0 hothatch review

I am looking for a 0-100-0 test, can't remember what mag did it, they tested the mk1 172, leon sport and 206 gti.

As i recall it used to be in cliosport.net's articles section, but now it's off-limit to non-members.

I have the original evo mag when they did a group test of cars like Caterham, elise, 172 Mk2 Ph1, Clio V6 etc and one of the tests was the
0-100-0 times.

What do you wanna know, and I dont have a scanner so can't scan it in?

I havent got the 172 one, but I have the 182cup

0-60 in 6.49
0-100 in 16.74
0-100-0 in 21.42

Im pretty sure the 182 posted similar times the year before so I cant imagine the 172 is far away from these

That 0-100-0 stat is pretty scary! It takes you 16.74 secs to get to 100, but only 4.68 secs to stop!!! That would be a real brown pants moment if you needed to do it :dead: and I'm sure it would be the longest 5 seconds of your life!

I also find it quite strange that 0-60 takes only 6.49 secs, but then another 10 secs are needed to gain 40 more mph to 100.

Thats down to air resistance at speed, my old 5 GT turbo was quoted (as STD, 120bhp) at 7.5 to 60mph yet 21 to 100mph, and it felt like that too.....felt better when running 200bhp though...lol

What is clarkson on about when he says the exhaust note is far too loud?? I find it really quiet when cruising at 50/60. Also you can adjust the back of the seat,it takes some doing but its doable,lol.

Yeah its down to air resistance and that why higher powered cars come in to their own despite weight. An example would be an M3 about 4.8 sec to 60 so about 1.8 faster than the clio which doesnt sound too much but to 100 its about 5.5 secs faster
