0-60 shredded???

  Yozza'd Titanium 182
Right Clio 182 standard with a sub and amp in the boot.

If you...

. Removed the sub, rear seats, parcel shelf and boot carpet
. Put a d-cat pipe in
. Used the RS tuner
. Used a k&n air filter with cold air feed

How much of a differance do you think it would make?

What do you think?

i did this in my car the other day!

182 with sub and amp in the boot + a passenger

mods are matched inlets and a decat and i ran a 6.7second to 60mph so not to bad!! :)

Not vast. It's FWD, there's only so much you can do with spending serious cash and serious stripping. If you line them up (standard vs mod'd) there would be a slight difference, but only slight. Spend the same cash+effort on performance driving training, and the difference over a b-road/track would be far greater.

I would say that it would meake f**k all difference.

The Decat, K&N will only make a minimal difference. So minimal infact that a Rolling road will barely notice. Let alone real world figures.

mine is stripped with a few mods and im not into all this 0-60 patter but launching from a standing start mine will pull 1-2 cars length on a standard 172 by the end of 3rd gear

i recon you may be a good driver martin plus IF your car is 188bhp then... you will pull away from a 172?

its obviously going to pull on one as its the same car, lighter with more power but its ok saying ive got 18bhp more or what ever but 18bhp isnt much on the road, its not like its night and day. ive got a big torque gain which makes a genuine big difference but if you fit a decat and filter and gain 5bhp you might notice a difference to the way it drives but its not going to make much of a difference at all on the road against another car.

my 172 when standard was neck and neck with my mates standard one all the way to tripple figures, i fitted my k-tec stealth at the time with 172 manifold and cat and i was lucky if i could pull 1 cars length by 100mph, fitted 182 manifold and decat for a big torque gain and then i was looking at 2 cars lengths by 100 the car felt much much quicker to drive but really side by side their isnt much in it!

good bit quicker than standard ones now tho!

hmmm sounds like its not really worth it then, especially if i was to loose my rear seats sub and spend the time and money...

Sub is what, 10kgs?

Add in 15kgs for the rear seats, and ignoring any power mods you've improved a standard 182 from 167bhp/ton to 171.

That's enough for maybe 0.05s if you're a robot.

Every kilo counts. It'll always be faster with less of them. The question is does it matter? If you're stripping it out properly then yes, if you're just losing a few kilos here or there, the difference is going to be minimal. Every litre of petrol weighs around a kilo, as a frame of reference.

I started doing track days quite recently, and I quickly realised that suspension/chassis, brakes and, above all, talent, are far more important than gaining a 0.01 seconds to 60mph. Especially as every launch will be different anyway.

If you're stripping a car out as a track weapon, the yes you'll see benefits. If you're taking the back seats out in the hope of reaching 60mph in 5 seconds...f**king forget it. IMO :)
