0-60mph times

Read what I've put... I have the GT THP 150 with 147bhp as standard.

Book time of 8.4 seconds. I was doing it in 7.5 seconds ISH before the remap, now i'm doing it in mid 6 seconds... pretty normal to drop a second off to 60 with a remap iirc

Unless your car is magically 250kg lighter than standard there's no ways it getting close to 7 seconds

You had to re read what you put even though people have put things along the lines of "Your car will not do sub 7 sec to 60" about 15 times?:S

Words fail me....
 
oh I give up... if you guys think that no other car can do 0-60 in under 7 seconds then fine.

I really have better things to be doing, but, it passed some time so hey :argue: :butt:

I'm not even going to respond to the first half of your post

Because when I got the GT a year ago, the GTI was just over 2k to insure and the GT 1.2k.

Now, the GT is £900 to insure and the GTI is £1.4k
 
What the f**k is going on in here. 0-60 is a load of b****cks.

All this talk of 0.3 seconds. Do you really notice that point three of a second? f**k sake, it's a clio.
 
0-60 is a rubbish performance indicator eg no use in the real world I used to own a MR2 turbo with 300bhp 0-60 in under 4.5 sec and 0-100 in 12sec but sold it to buy my trophy after failing to keep up with a standard 182 cup on a normal British B road. The only place 0-60 counts is on a drag strip and how often do you get on one of them.

I've been told by tuners that it's all to do with the gear ratios?

For example, in the Peugeot 207 GTI ... the car maxes out at 137mph... because it redlines in 5th gear at that speed

When cruising along at 70mph in 5th gear the car has 3,500 rpm approx! .. Close ratio gearbox I think causes this?

Then take half a second or so off the time if it makes you happy; your car's still an 8-second-ish 0-60 on the evidence of your video.

I doubt that's any more accurate than your shaky camera recording the inaccurate speedo from an angle method.

You question inaccuracy.. fair enough... however, IF the book time is measured via speedo, then surely so should my 0-60?

For example, if we did a video of your car and a video of my car both going by the speedo. Surely because they are both judged using the speedo, it doesn't matter whether it's a "true" 60mph?

I think book times are a bit more advanced than using speedo's these days, don't you. I mean if my speedo was far enough out I too could say I did 60 in 3 secs....

My OH had the 207 GTI THP 175 bhp and it's 6.9 to 60. He p/xd it to a Pug dealer though as it had an unfixable fault.

Look mate, we arnt trying to bring your car down, the fact is however fast it feels or however fast the speedo shows, it isn't as fast as you think.

Simple physics. It weights 1.3 tonnes and before the map had 150bhp roughly. There is no way on earth it would be accelerating faster than a RS Clio ( which are alot lighter and have more power )

After the map, yeah sure it might be doing 7 secs or abit under but your initial statement was that as standard it was doing sub 7 second runs. Which I'm afraid is just impossible.

I can't believe you could even think a car manufacturer would use an ordinary uncalibrated speedometer to work out the 0-60 time.
They can overread by up to 10% by law but cannot underread. That's massive if you're trying to work out an accurate 0-60.

And just lol @ "it doesn't matter if it's a true 60mph"
