0-60mph times

Just wondering what everyone's 0-60mph times are if anyones tested theirs. I've just tested my 1.6 16v and it came out at 8.0 secs exactly, which i think is fairly good :) so i want to see how it compares to other clio engine sizes or even other 1.6's.
 
0-60 times are for those that can't drive.

Anyone can drop the clutch and change gear twice.
 
I got 8 seconds for my 172. I measured from 0 to 65mph as speedos do tend to overread, so if you stop the clock at 60 you've got a false reading. My cambelt was last changed (previous owner) by Mr Clutch, so doubtless the timing is a bit out and it's not as fast as it could be. I did get the feeling when first driving my car that "This car is fast, but it's not quite as fast as I thought it might be". It's still good enough for me though, but I'm looking forward to getting the cambelt done properly. I should think of it as a cheapish power mod as well as a belt change because if the timing is out I'm going to gain quite a few bhp when it's timed up properly.

Compared to my 1.2 Fiesta which was nearly 100bhp, and my other car that was 110bhp, my car feels much more like a 140bhp car rather than a 170! It was done by Mr Clutch and the previous owner told me they put the car on the exclusion list afterwards because it took them so long to do (that means they'd never done one before, so what are the chances it's actually been done properly?)

I am currently stripping my old car for parts (non-Clio) and once that's done I should put the Clio in the garage, buy the tool(s) and check the timing!
 
My bad, total memory failure. I had 97bhp in my head for some reason, but it wasn't anywhere near that after just checking the stats. The Fiesta always felt nippier than it was. My 1.9TD was 110bhp though.

Fair enough, I suppose if anywhere is going to f**k it up it's Mr. Clutch!
 
My best was a 5.39 @ York. Was pretty much a perfect start and on the graph there was almost no dip when I changed gear...don't think I could do it again without killing my box tho!

You wont gain anything from a cambelt change! At best it'll be 150-157 at the wheels.
 
Averaged 6.7 secs using racelogic in my black one before the itb's. After is was an average of 5.7 secs - with full interior. Though to the OP, what timing equipment did you use to time your 8.0? As thats very quick for a 1.6 - please don't tell me you used a stopwatch

Stopwatch? I'd say so.
 
My Swift Sport does it in 4.9 counting in my head. If I got an induction kit I think I could get it to low 4's :)
 
If I count really slowly I can do the kessel run in 12 parsecs.

probably because of all the special modifications

f**k off did you get 8 seconds out your 1.6!! Book time is 9.1, you ain't beating that, infact you'll do well to achieve it.

0-60 time for a Peugeot 207 GT THP 150 is 8.4 seconds... I've VIDEOED a standard 0-60 time of approx 6.8 seconds (no it wasn't downhill)... therefore I totally believe it!

I'm sure I read somewhere that book Pug times are with luggage or a passenger or something daft....there was a big difference between the 106 GTi and the saxo vts iirc so maybe this is still the case? Either way sub 7 seconds in a 150bhp car weighing 1300kg + is pretty difficult imo

Although I have a pub chat vehicle too... About 4.5s when I'm not busy re-building the diff because trying to launch too fast killed it :(
 
Infact I found this on another forum

"Just to clear it up, Peugeot's quoted 0-60 time for the GTI is 8.4 seconds, but as said already, timed with half a tank of fuel, a passenger and some luggage in the boot.

EVO have timed it properly on their timing gear at 7.5 seconds - which is exactly the same as a saxo VTS."
 
Pug quoted sower 0-60's to try and keep insurance groups down

and to sway chavs towards VTS's.
