1.2 16v Cambelt Change

Well my cars 5 years old in oct will probs be on around 50k milage, so i guess a cambelt is due. how much am i looking at to get this done? i want to start shopping around now as i know its an expensive job so want to get the best possible deal. i live in stoke (staffordshire) but will travel if it means i get a half decent deal

Price depends where you do Renault dealership expect £650 or so for a full 72k/5year serice including cambelt.
For a garage I'd expect about £500.

Depending if your willing to travle I'd recomend GDI in Cambridge or Yozzasport (ot entirly sure where there based I think there near stoke drop Yo2za or Fred an phone call), Rentech (somewhere down sout), or specialist Renault breakers in accrington a call.

When a car needs this much spending on it personally I'd just get someone to do the cambelt and do the servicing bit yourself.

I have just had mine changed, at 42000 miles on a 1.2 16v.

I had the cambelt and tensioners changed, total cost for me was 170.

Although I am having a slight whirring noise(too tight?) when I drive, but they told me if it is still there by tuesday they will look at it again...:approve:

Mind you, where I work is just over the road from the garage and the owner pops in now and again.....thats prob why it was cheap...

Mine was about £300 from renalut - CAm belt, tensioners and Aux belts.

Hmm, I need mine doing too. Certainly not paying more than £200-£250 really. Edde, is that matt blacks place in accrington? I was planning on heading up there this week for a look at a couple of things, didn't know they did servicing/cam belts aswel, is this right? Where is that place that winston (not sure on user name) works at? That has been recommended.

its a very easy job, can be done in 2 hours, i would strongly suggest changing the water pump too as they do start leaking

parts alone are about £100 (inc new water pump)
