1.2 16v..do i need an engine cover??

been getting this wierd noise from my car...but didnt really think much of it

it started doing it everytime the fan come on, so i popped the bonnet up and my engine cover had broke, and slipped into the fan!!

so my question is, would it be ok to drive without an engine cover for a couple weeks/month??

car is a 1.2 16v dynamique

Yeah if you mean the plastic cover that says 1.2 16v it's just a cosmetic thing. Mine kept jamming itself down next to the alternator belt so stays off permanently now.

yeah just the cover, i thought it was just cosmetic, but thought i had better check

in a relates matter, i have a strange noise some time coming form an enginer, is sound like someon blowing inthe top of a bottle, i checked my exhaust and its fine, its stange.
also are i.2s meant to have a bonnet lining?, i guess they all have generic bonnets, but there are brachets for like a liner, i think the 1.4 has one but i dunno if a 1.2 should have,

does the noise only come when you press the accelerator when it sucks in air? dont know what it is but they all do it.

no need for the engine cover, my alternator ate mine, when i blew my engine my new one came with a cover so kept it on, a month later the radiator fan ate it lol
