1*2 backbox rubber mounts

  320d
Who's done what to solve the problem of the rear backbox rubber mount wearing out and drooping

Any pictures would be handy plus the success or failure of your DIY efforts

Thanks

go to halfords and buy a universal exhaust mount for about £2. this is a rectangular shape and will fit into the original metal housing if you cut the top two spokes of the 'X' out, and the centre circle. this is a stronger rubber and you can hook the exhaust through this mount and leave it, as i have done. or you can pack the lower holes with offcuts of rubber from the original mount if you have a particularly heavy exhaust and need it reinforcing.

did this to mine last year and it allows for a bit of movement, so no chance of anything breaking. but keeps the exhaust reasonably level and hasnt moved if at all.
