1.2 clio

  Renault Clio 182
i can buy a 1.2 clio, not sure on shape, think its a mk2 shape 1. its on a t plate. just seen it for sale not had a chance to give them a shout. but its for sale for 1200. wanting something to rack miles up on as the 182 has had 10000 miles inside a few months :(
are these good cars or stay away?

the 1.2 8v engine in these is a pretty reliable lump. main things to look for are cam belt change etc.they respond well to an oil change (smoother running). check the rear springs, as they are prone to breaking.rattling sunroofs are an easy fix as a modified catch is available, and expect a few trim rattles! seen a few of these that have been used as driving school cars with mileages that the starship enterprise would be proud of,so,yeah, pretty reliable.!:)

personally i wouldnt bother with an 8v one, especially when your used to a 182.

when i get into my 1.2 16v from the 172 i cant beleive how slow it is, its scarey!! feels dangerous but it handles s**t hot compaired to the 172 lol

yeah FFS dont get an 8V. If your putting miles on the clio, i guess itll be because you travel to work long distances or whatever.

Have you ever considered a Dci ? Cheap tax, good on fuel and cheap to insure (supposedly).

8v will be frustrating as hell on the motorways, especially if you get to an incline... dunno if it's the same with 16v

  ?
1.2 8v is a good car... fairly fun ... i do about 20-30 motorway miles a day on it and its fairly capable. If you want something just to rack up miles though have you considered a mk1 1.9diesel? there meant to be good.
