1.2 to 1.6 engine conversion .

hey , im not asking if the above is a good idea etc i would just like to know first of all is this conversion pretty much a straight swap , out with the old , in with the new ? and also how much would you be looking at on parts , and maybe if someones that clever ...what parts ?

no far from it, same hassle as doing a 172 conversion.
only to find when its done its still not that quick

and you will come across loads of other problems not mentioned there.

to name a few i come across - missmatched door wiring plugs (and wiring colours)
mismatched rear loom
abs wiring
power steering

I had a K4M (1.6 16v) engine and gearbox for my old 1.2 16v when i blew it up, but its the same hastle as a 172 conversion and i needed the car back on the road ASAP so i went for another 1.2 16v lump.

if your spending the cash and going through the hastle your better doing a 2.0 16v conversion for an extra 70bhp!

^^^ yes agreed after a little researching and info cheers for enlighting me guys . i just thought they would be pretty similar e.g the looms etc .
