1.2 with Sport badges...

Dunno if this has been covered before, but here goes...

What's peoples opinions on 1.2 dynamiques with Renaultsport badges on them? You see so many about, and sometimes when people say they raced a Clio Sport and pi**ed on it, I can't help but think it was probably not a 2.0... :dapprove:

I've never seen the point in badging a car up as having a bigger engine than it really has. More fun to remove 'em from car's that do have a big engine and let people find out the hard way...

Sort of gives 2.0's a bad name. Guess it's like the guys who used to stick "Cosworth" badges on their Escort 1.3 Encore's...

On the plus side, it's been scientifically proven that adding badges with the words "Renault" and "Sport" to the back of a 1.2 16v adds at least 30bhp to the power output of the engine. (This may or may not be true... :rasp: )

They can do what they want IMO. With regards to giving RS clio's a bad name, I couldn't give a toss... I know what my car's capable of and don't care what other people think.

for those that actually care, they'd notice in a split second that its not a 172/182

nice drums 172/182 didn't come with sunroofs either did they?

exhaust looks a bit further over than the 172 exhaust as well!

looks spot on though and pulls off the 172 "look" better than a 172!

we once stuck a turbo badge on the back of my mates vauxhall cavalier, aswell as 8" wiper blades and a [c**k 1] number plates lol!

I've never noticed a 1.2 with RS badges (unless it's been a full rep and I haven't known I suppose) because I'd never take the time to give a 1.2 a proper looking at. If I see an RS model on the road I generally tend to have a nice look, don't bother with non-RS ones as they're nothing special.

Makes me angry! Only a tw@t would put sport badges on a 1.2 and make people think it was a 2 litre?

1.2 badges on a 2 litre on the other hand is ok hehe

I think it's sad doing it tbh. I've never really seen that many 1.*s with 2.0 badges though.

i saw a 1.2 today with a 'sport' badge on the boot, but the person driving it didnt look like the type of person who'd stick it on - woman, 55ish - so maybe dealers stuck them on sometimes?

Full on reps are cool in my opinion. As long as they're done well. Shows you've got passion for the real thing.

And the campus Sport is an official model, so it passes too. Although it could just be that some dumbass at Reanult put an extra "0" on the end of the order for sport badges and had to use 'em up... :rasp:

mine had a sport madge on lol but its off now though dont worry lol for some reason though i seem to be having everybody taking me on and im like lool although some people take it too far and drive up my a*se big time and it really pees me off! some a$$ in a golf gti over tuk me and stopd, got out and wer thretnin me at me door so jst reversed away nd the wan*er n his mate smacked me wingmiror crackin the glass!! never been so stressed in ma life.. cudnt really get out because my misus was cra*ping herself so i had to drive away asap lol all because some1 was tailgaiting trying to be a bigman and me slowing down lol tut tut.. probably tried it on cause my IK sounds proper loud and beefy probably making him think i hava 2.0!!..

so anyway, a warning to people in 1.2's with sport badges, dont pretend to be something your not cause it will probably end up in damage being delt lol...

Oh God, please type in proper English!! From what I can decipher, you were driving really slowly in front of someone who wanted to get past, then wondered why he got really angry and threatened to punch you?

Don't you think it would have been more mature to pull over and let him pass? If you'd slowed down in front of me it would have wound me right up as well.

Pmsl , there is a black five door x reg focus 'cosworth' round my way. I laugh at it hard every time I see it. All it is is a focus with after market alloys & a 4" exhaust on it. I bet it's a 1.6 tbh:lolup:
