1.4 rt, wheels and suspension

what size wheels should i put on my clio rt? what is best??

i want to lower the car 35mm, and get some decent size wheels,

what do you all suggest??

depends how much you have to spend, for suspension i went for a Bilstein Streetline kit, which is £190 from euro car parts, other cheap kits are PI and Apex

ive got 15" wheels on my RT and get a little bit of rubbin, but some people seem to manage 16s without any !

15s, no lowering (yet), and def no rubbbing (tho its as high as little johnny after a bit too much ...ahem;))

i lost a lot of acceleration with my rims copared to standard though - lost about 10miles of the top end, and the acceleration on motorways feels worse than my old 1ltr micra!

worth it for the looks when shes sparkling tho!

15s lowered 55 front 70 back. only rubs when i give my mate who are rugby players a lift.

the alloys did seem to lose some acceleration but not top end. grip is fantastic!! my pics in the "others" section

15s (195/50/15) Lowered -35mm at front, and a load at the back (arch just above tyre).

Rubs slightly on full lock, and in the back, I have a mark around the tyrewall where the arch lip has rubbed on it.. if I carry anyone in the back, it rubs loads. I reckon if I grinded the arch lip off, Id be ok though.

Might also have to take the arch liners out - can sometimes hear them banging going over big bumps.

um 15s might lose u accel but should give you a better top speed.

15s are the best for all round tyers 16 make it look bigger and loose a bit more accel.

and so on and so forth with 17 & 18 &19s

Big wheels dont necessarilly equate with big speed. My old 1.2 lost some on 15s and even more on 16s. If the car doesnt have enough power to turn those wheels, then youll lose top speed! Trust me - no one on here with big wheels (apart maybe from some 16vs, 172s etc) would say their top speed has increased!

In fact, Ive never heard of any car with bigger wheels with greater top speed! (except maybe for extreme power conversions like the BB Turbo Clio 16v!).

Mine has decreased.. I would guess by quite a large percentage too.

Acceleration is ok, but it runs out of steam quicker I think.

slicks??

simple answer, only will rub on full lock if there over 7" wide. Full lock on a trackday... no.
