1.4 Skimming the Head

Hello...

Anybody taken the head off a RT? im getting the head skimmed and got this poxy "Cylinder head locating Dowel" that i cant remove......... any tips?

Never fear! after blood and sweat got the bstd out!

Onto the next problem... head gone down to get skimmed.

I was about to buy the Cylinder head gasket set for the clio.. and the bloke says theres two kits!?!? when i looked online there was only 1 priced £30inc VAT, this bloke stating theres 1 for £30 and another for £40 which includes bolts.. which im guessing this are the cylinder head bolts.......... advisable to replace these?

see that was my assumption after this bloke telling me over the phone about the kit. but..... had a quick look in the haynes no mention on the 1.4..... but on the Vavler its made very clear to use new bolts?!?!

just replace em... might as well while ya there.. on a 1.4 you souldnet see much stretch from em neways... unless you are running high comp or a turbo?

ah bloody clios theres always more than type of every bit lol i was gonna do the head on mine but couldn't be ar5ed lol so its at the garage now.

Well done doing it youself tho!

I did the head gasket on mine, didnt change the bolts, sleep soundly at night.

Ta, its not really all me doing the work, my dad used be a mechanic so he knows his stuff.

Its looking good so far, head skimmed, looking sexy, just putting it all back together now.

I got the whole kit including the bolts, just incase!

I am back Day! well kinda... lets just say ive got a 306 TD which i love (as is so easily tunable) but due to my finances... i may have to sell her. so im fixing the my old clio which has been on the drive to run about in for a year.

As she will be a run about im quite tempted to see what i can really get out for her. possibly strip down.

Still got the De-cat + hill power induction etc but im thinkin..... drop a GT5 in there? or see if me and dad can design some kinda of hybrid turbo for the lump....

Who knows its a sh*tter that runs and is fun and costs bugger all so im happy.

Gonno miss the 306 tho! surprising the performance (if you can call it that) / economy you get out of her.
