1.4.....Sport?!

So my sister has seen a clio she wants to buy, it has a sport badge on it but it's a 1.4 with 75hp... :/, is it just some wannabe thats stuck a sport badge on it or is it genuine?

It's a 2000 model by the way and the guy wants £3k for it, I just think theres something fishy about it so I thought I would ask the experts.

Also if it 75bhp and a 1.4 it will be an 8 valve engine, so not even a sport model. My old 1.2 16v was classed as a 'sport' on the registration though.

Do you have a link to it?

Nah hes just got a for sale sign on the window, can't find it on auto trader or ebay.

Either way I think £3k is a rip off, iirc it had 60,000 miles on it and by the looks of it someones driven into the side of him at some point.

Autotrader says £1900, no idea what Glass says (don't really fancy paying £3 to find out either :D)

They do a "Renault Clio Sport".. different to a RenaultSport Clio..

pretty sure on this..

seen quite a few standard looking ph2's with a Sport badge on, think Renault were jumping on the bandwagon like BMW sticking 'M' badges on everything

  Storm Grey 200
It is just a clio sport, sport model. Not a renault sport, i have the 1.2 "Sport" they dont come with badges saying sport, but they do show up as a sport on insurance etc

Whats the mileage on it? Sub 75k its worth £1750.
Cambelt should of been done.
Its a Renault Clio Sport, not a Renault Sport Clio.

I had a Renault Clio Sport on a 2000 plate. It was a 1.4 8v. Went quite well for a little engine, great for the twisties too

I have a 1.2 16v "sport" as above its classed as a sport its a 2001 reg and a Mk2 Phase 1, pic below...........cost me £2700

Oh and I put the sport badge on myself

Ai mine has them too, you get the Dyamique style seat covering, the headlight thingy's at the bottom, white dials, I have sports edging on the inside of my doors (think thats it)

I dont think £3k is a bad price tbh, you could get a MK2 Ph1 proper sport for that though - Sy off here is selling one for around £2700 I think

Cheers for the help guys, I think i'll convince her not to buy it, it seems way too much. The MOT and tax run out in 3 weeks aswell, also it looks like someones driven into the side of it at some point, the bodywork is all dodgey on one side.

Thanks for clearing up the sport thing, seemed strange to call a 1.4 with 75hp a sport :p.

Theres the ClioSport and the RenaultSport. Maybe it is a sport but its a no no for putting sport badges on anything that didnt come with it
