1.5 DCi coil light and "diesel" knock

Was driving my van yesterday and the coil light with the electrical fault one together came on and as i drove on the engine started knocking with it mainly noticeable on idle and its what i call a diesel knock lol
i cleaned the egr out as i had the airbox out,i made sure the fuel lines and all injectors were getting fuel, but then had a friend to rev the van while i looked at the one injector and it was bubbling air in the diesel that i spilled around the neck of the injector,
So i disconnected that injector, then fired the engine up and it ran with no knocks so im pretty sure that ones at fault,
This is where my knowledge of diesel runs out lol
does that mean that cylinder is getting too much fuel?
And does it sound like a new injector jobbie or is there something else like a copper washer missing?

Another question if (and i hope not) i need a new injector i see they have to be coded and what not? Would i be able to match the numbers on mine to a second hand one and just plug and play?

Get your injector out and refurbished. If you buy a new one it'll be expensive plus you will have to code it.

Thanks for the link, good shout on all 4 being done, all depends on the price as the vans only my budget bus lol want to try and keep costs down lol

ill do some ringing around monday, ive got a lot to learn about this DCi thing lol

lol the list goes on, they are pritty reliable tbh. could just be a fualty injector or one thats had its time and needs re-furbed internals. speak to edde on here, he is very informationable on dci's in general :)

Its on a 51 plate, the reason i ask is that the fuel gauge is very sensitive and i thought i had a bit of diesel left but it looks like it was empty so i think ive clogged the injector with the crap it may have dragged through, so was going to put some diesel in with an injector cleaner and just take it for a drive

There is no way that would clean the injector,these Delphi injectors are EXTREMELY sensitive,the slightest particle of dirt will stop them from working correctly,they'd need removed and blown out using the proper delphi cleaning equipment.

If it was only the copper seal u would only be losing a liitle bit of compression,u wouldnt be getting diesel knock,believe me,i have a lot of experience with K9K injection systems.

And that would cause the light to be thrown up and the knock?
Im really really hoping its a seal, they hard to change? Its worth a shot first for a few pence, renault only part? Or any motorfactors?
Forgot to mention the vans on 103k miles if it makes any difference

Im not doubting your knowledge at all, just as everyone would be, im hoping for the cheapest/easiest option, and its not an extremely loud knock, i can just tell its there, when you first start the engine and it idles its not present, give a little rev and then it appears on idle

I got the day off tomorrow so ill try the seal first for the sake of a few pence

Where would be the best place to source one?
If it doesnt work ill take it to be refurbed

renault only part i think,injector needs removed to replace copper seal.....id replace the seal for when u get the injector done. if it is the injector,the other 3 wont be far away either.

Knowing my luck it will be the injector lol
if the seal doesnt work, ill just get them all refurbed, thanks for all the help guys

no worries! make sure you clean out all the injector pipes with CLEAN diesel when refitting,the area should be made as clean as possible to avoid contaminants getting into the high pressure system.

Don't forget to mark them up or make note of which injector goes in which cylinder as they are coded.

Got the seals today, ive got the little 'horseshoe' holder with the torx bit out, ive turned the injector side to side with the 11mm spanner and i just cant seem to get the injector out, im just sat here staring at it
any help would be appreciated
